These include routes expected to be used by thousands of people driving to London for the occasion. More details about the weekend of the King's coronation have been announced - and they include plans for a star-studded concert at Windsor Castle, as Vincent McAvinney reports Stephen Douglas said, “Storm Desmond caused extensive damage to the depot. We lost the entire fleet of buses. 65 buses had to be scrapped due to damage. The King, then Prince Charles, met all the team at the depot, and he was very nice. Routes N5 and N20 towards Trafalgar Square and route N253 towards Tottenham Court Road Station are diverting after bus stop W, named Pratt Street, on Bayham Street via Crowndale Road, Millbrook Place, Harrington Square, Liddlington Place and Hampstead Road to Tottenham Court Road re-joining line of route at bus stop N named Capper Street. He was really nice and down to earth. He genuinely cares for the country, its people and the environment.” Steven Temple said. Update 8 May 2023: The crown on the bus stop outside John Lewis seems to have been stolen. This is the second one to vanish, following the theft and re-installation of the crown east of Oxford Circus. The crowndels feature a likeness of St Edward’s Crown, which will be used to crown the King at Westminster Abbey. Buses featuring the commemorative wraps will enter service on Friday (April 28) and will travel along routes linked to the Royal Family, such as the Horse Guards Parade and Westminster Abbey. Operators Metroline, Stagecoach, Go Ahead, RATP and Abellio are behind the funding and the bus routes chosen are 390, 160, 11, 87, 148, 111.

During an interview with Tom Bradby on ITV, Harry was asked if he will come to the coronation if he is invited, and he said: “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. There’s a lot to be discussed and I really hope that they can – that they are willing to sit down and talk about it, because there’s a lot that’s happened in six years. From Saturday 25 November route 182 will now serve bus stop D at Harrow Bus Station towards Harrow Weald instead of bus stop A. No change towards Brent Cross. The Stagecoach East Midland buses have been decorated in a special livery, featuring the official royal emblem, to commemorate King Charles III’s Coronation. The momentous event will be the first for 70 years, since Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation in 1953. LMS 46220 ‘Coronation’ was the first of the class to be built streamlined and was outshopped with a casing in June 1937 from the LMS Crewe works. The casing was removed, and replacement smoke deflectors were fitted in November 1946, with the locomotive being withdrawn from service in April 1963, and then later scrapped. Locomotive 46220 had 5 different liveries over the years and this locomotive also held the then speed record of 114mph with the Driver TJ Clarke and the Engineer Robert Riddles on the footplate. Since Monday 6 November Eversholt Street has been closed southbound between Mornington Crescent Station and Euston Station for major water main replacement works.

King Charles III’s Coronation is only the third Coronation of an English monarch to take place on a Saturday; the first was King Harold II on January 6th 1066, who was also the last Anglo-Saxon monarch. Harold was notably the first monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey in London; the Abbey has been preserved as the traditional venue for Coronations ever since. Photograph: BBC Studios/PA The bus unveiling in Carlisle was attended by Stagecoach’s two main painters; Stephen Temple, 53 and Stephen Douglas, 61 both from Morton, who along with paint shop labourer Mark Maddison, 48 from Botcherby spent an entire week painting the vehicle ready for its crowning moment. The government has already launched a consultation on extending pub opening hours throughout the coronation weekend. Route E2 is diverted in both directions due to the closure of Windmill Road underneath the M4 elevated section due to roadworks. Towards Greenford buses will double run via A4 Great West Road with no stops missed. Towards Brentford buses will divert from Windmill Road via Great West Road and Boston Manor Road to line of route. These works will continue until mid-December 2023. The performances will be supported by staging and effects located on the castle’s east lawn and will also include a selection of spoken word sequences delivered by stars of stage and screen. For the Royal connection, three locomotives were repurposed to receive special new liveries. Two locomotives had new liveries applied for use on the Royal Train in 2003. The other locomotive received a special commemorative Jubilee livery for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. This special livery was also for use on the Royal Train.
