According to HMRC, you can use either a paper hours log book or an EU-approved and sealed tachograph. The ‘Get a vehicle log book (V5C)’ service is the latest DVLA online service, and has been designed for motorists who have lost or damaged their log book. Along with other parts of the regulations in place before August 2020, the changes mean that all drivers (including occasional drivers) must keep a full set of records of their activities for the current day and the previous 28 days.
