About this deal

The mioXL is basically a "fixed" version of the mio10 with some new features (presets, onboard USB hub, expanded RTP-MIDI ports, new version of the Auracle software). I currently use 2x mioXL units and 2x mio10 units in my setup and while I haven't ever tried any scientific measurements on jitter or latency, I haven't experienced any issues or noticed anything out of normal for PC-based MIDI sequencing (and I've been doing that since the DOS days). My four units are all networked together via wired Ethernet and the newer/better capabilities of the mioXL as far as configuring netMIDI makes it actually usable now and totally worth it. I'm getting very close to replacing my other two mio10s at this point. I have a fully-hardware based setup with multiple synthesizers and multiple sequencers, but I use a Squarp Pyramid as a brain. Getting the control scheme routings right has been a struggle. I started off with a MOTU MIDI Express XT, which did not work. To their credit, IConnectivity offers very communicative, robust support system staffed with people who really seem to know their stuff.

Got masking tape and wrote out the names of the devices on the top of the unit. (Will explain why in a moment) Stability fixes for USB and RTP discovery and communication. Performance is greatly improved for RTP. However, RTP is still recommended for use over only wired connections. Best thing available at this point, not perfect but I can't think of another thing on the market right now that has as much going for it. Finally, I asked about the MioXM and learned that you can get up to 8 USB ports on that by using a 5 port hub. I asked because if I can't figure out the RTP routing between units, I would replace my Mio10 with a MioXM with the goal that I can sit at a keyboard at either side and it control a module on the other side or I can run a sequencer from one unit to the other, all without having to turn the computer on. Have you been looking for a tone-creating device that will satisfy all of your creative needs. This thing has it covered! You can control everything from one keyboard or several keyboards depending on what sound works best in any given situation. There's also presets so you don't need to spend time tweaking tones yourself when they're ready made just waiting there for your ears. Life is easier with options like these at hand; they save tons of valuable studio time where we could be doing other things instead. It's no wonder why the MIDI Editor is a must-have for any producer or engineer. If you're looking to hook up your instrument and simplify your process, this tool will do just that.

Addition of channels for iConnectAUDIO4+ routing configurations. Stream is revised to be only stereo channels for compatibility with streaming software. Once happy with the 3 layers. I used my Pyramid Sequencer and a Keystep to work out a basic chord progression, sequence it and then record it.

mioXL's display, rotary encoder and capacitive touch controls make navigating presets and monitoring MIDI traffic easy Use your 22 network MIDI ports anyway you want. Connect each of the 22 RTP-MIDI sessions to any combination of physical or virtual I / O ports. Almost any combination is possible. As time went on, my home studio grew more complex.. and device heavy. I've got a bunch of synths (some of which no longer play well with Windows via USB, due to old drivers), an Alesis strike pro drum kit, guitar amps which support midi, various effects pedals that support midi, so on.. and so forth. MIDI, especially over USB, was just an endless nightmarish frustration when trying to record.
