Third-party eartips are one of those things that you end up with a large collection of as you fall deeper into audiophilia. The reason is quite simple: universal earphones (i.e. non-custom IEMs) require fiddling with the tips more often than not. Moreover, eartips are just about the cheapest (and often most reproducible) way of tuning an earphone. So we all end up with boxes of eartips of our own, sooner or later. Some may find that tips are a shade crisp for their tastes and hence foam tips may be more their flavor. However, trialling and experimenting with different combinations will aid the quest to find the perfect sound. Here are the wired earphones I have in my collection and tried them with the CP100. Sony XBA-4 with SpinFit CP100 Accidents, abuse, misuse, improper installation, problems with electrical power, acts of third parties.

mm longer than CP-100 and CP-145, the additional length and bullet-shaped caps of the CP-155 allow deeper insertion to bring more bass and fuller vocal. SpinFit’s double-flange tips offer further levels of sound isolation with an even superior seal compared to the flange tips. Again, they are a good fit for poorly isolating in-ear monitors without compromising on comfort during prolonged listening sessions. CP100+ Ear Tips CP360 and CP1025 are designed for TWS earphones. CP360 is designed to provide a deeper fit, while CP1025 is more shallow. While both will fit on most TWS earphones, some charging cases may not be compatible with the CP360. CP1025 is also available with adapters for Apple AirPods Pro and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. W1 As a last bit, the silicone is actually medical grade, so the added benefit is you shouldn’t have issues with allergies and other adverse reactions. SpinFit CP500

How and why SpinFit eartips work

They are equivalent to the CP100 in every respect, except for sound: the new material makes treble a bit stronger overall. SpinFit CP145

The CP100+ ear tips are a recent release of SpinFit’s and an update to the current CP100 model. The CP100+ tips incorporate medical-grade silicone material to promote a more durable and comforting fit as well as a stiffer inner core. In terms of sonic impressions, there are subtle differences compared to the original CP100 model. For example the CP100+ has a slight bass elevation and more control over the higher frequencies than its original counterpart. use not following the ‘User Guide’ or any additional safety, use, or warnings included in the product materials. The peculiarity of the CP100 is that they are tall (9.9 mm), but they are actually quite wider at 13.3 mm. This means that they won’t need to go very deep to seal off your ear canal and therefore will also be fine for earphones with short nozzles. Thanks to this good seal, bass is well extended and controlled, while the rest of the range comes out as well balanced and with no particular colouration and the same sensation of good control as in the lower area. As a whole, the sound is mostly unaltered and this also includes the “bad” side of this, as the tips won’t reduce peaks e.g. in the treble area. I don’t hear significant difference when I fit the Sennheiser MTW2 with the CP360. Perhaps it’s because the MTW2 is already quite bass-heavy. The earbuds could not stay flushed on the ears due to the longer ear tips. SpinFit CP360 ear tips with Sennheiser MTW2 Technics AZ70 with SpinFit CP360

The big difference in most of the models is the size of the bore for the IEM nozzle. Generally you want a tip that’s easy to get on, but not TOO easy to make sure that you have a tight secure fit. The more secure the fit, the better your isolation will be, but if you go with something that’s too snug you’ll risk damaging the eartips when you take them on or off. In this round-up, we shall explore how well this mechanism works across a variety of IEMs. Models to be evaluated: Spinfit CP-100, CP-100+, CP-145, CP-145 (medical-grade silicone), CP-240, CP-360, CP-500, and the CP-800. The only two in-production models that I don’t have with me are the CP-155 (I don’t have a large-nozzle IEM at the moment) and the Airpod-specific CP-1025 (I don’t have an Airpod). With that out of the way, let’s head right in. Among the rest, the CP-360 should be in your stable if you’re into TWS earphones, they are one of the few TWS-specific eartip after all. The CP-500 is a specialist eartip that can be unpredictable, and being the widest-bore tip in Spinfit’s lineup offers something unique. Finally, the CP-240 is something I couldn’t find a use for and the CP-800 didn’t perform as well as the tips it’s supposed to replace (for me). So these two don’t excite me as much.

SpinFit’s tips are an excellent addition to an audiophile’s inventory with real sonic improvements, exceptional ergonomics and a transparent delineation of sound. The SpinFit silicone tips especially excel in texturing & resolve of the bass, articulacy of the midrange and a detailed yet restraint treble section. This warranty extends only to personal use & does not extend to any product that has been used for commercial use, rental use, or use that is not intended. There are no warranties other than expressly set forth herein. As they get the deepest inside the ears, the CP155 are also the ones I’ve found myself the least comfortable with on the first try. It takes around five minutes for the silicone to warm up and for my ears to adapt, but then it’s almost as if I wasn’t wearing them at all. Due to their shape they offer an almost perfect seal, so if the earphones you’re wearing provide any isolation at all you probably won’t hear a thing of what’s around you without needing active noise cancellation. The wearing experience is very similar to the CP145, but due to the additional stiffness they can feel a bit more fatiguing during long runs. While the dome is made of the same silicone, the different inner bore has a small impact on comfort. The midrange of the SpinFit tips does sway towards the leaner side of the spectrum with more defined transients. Compared to some of the better foam tips (True Fidelity & Campfire Audio’s Marshmallows), the SpinFit’s silicones are more neutral-orientated at the expense of the more rounded and softer impact that the former tips render. Treble The Spinfit CP-100 is probably the most popular Spinfit eartips around. They are also the most widely available one. The original CP-100 model had a fairly stiff, color-coded stem (with color changing upon size) and the outer material was also fairly stiff. This model suited a number of IEMs especially those with a shallow nozzle (e.g. Dunu Luna, pictured below). The CP-100 was pretty much a utilitarian eartip, as in it would suit most models without affecting the FR too much or causing discomfort. I personally found the surface of the tip to be somewhat itchy after long-term use, and the stiffer outer layer didn’t have the best grip with the inner-ear wall.

The AZ70 has a neutral sound with the original ear tips. With CP360 ear tips, the bass improves in the meat which makes the AZ70 a little more enjoyable. SpinFit CP360 ear tips with Technics AZ70 Audio-Technica ANC300TW with SpinFit CP360 Some earphones come with a generous selection of eartips, others don’t. And in some cases, none of the eartips fit or provide an effective seal for the listener, so that the sound quality is compromised. In such situations, third-party eartips come to the rescue. As for sound, my impression is that they are quite neutral and I can’t hear significant differences compared to other tips like the CP100. This is actually desirable, so kudos to SpinFit! The SpinFit CP100 are the basic model, which by shape and feel most closely resemble “standard” eartips. They are conical (a wide ogive, to be exact) and offer a diameter of 4 mm which fits most earphones (including the Campfire Audio Vega 2020 and Dorado 2020, the Thieaudio Legacy 4, the Tin HiFi T2), but which is also a bit tight for earphones with larger nozzles. Still, they’re the ones that will probably fit the larger number of earphones, as they do just fine even with those that have a smaller nozzle like the Legacy 4. They come in 5 different sizes: SS (XS would have probably been better), S, M, L and XL. These eartips are meant for true wireless earpieces. If you find SpinFit CP-350 too short, this one fits between regular CP-145 and CP-350. Bass and low-mids are stronger than CP-350. Vocal is forward with good clarity. While the SpinFit silicone tips do not provide the most bass impact or authority, they offer a higher level of refinement compared to the Symbio W, Shure Olive & Final Audio E-tips. The Symbio W hybrid tips offer the most contrast here with a more impactful bass and energetic treble. However, the SpinFit tips really master the treble with detail and control that the other silicone tips do not possess.
