About this deal

The Worx WG779E.2 is a well-built, sturdy mower designed to last. My only gripe would be that the cutting blade may need replacing after a certain amount of use, but this is a standard maintenance requirement for most mowers, and it’s easy enough to do yourself or take it to a professional. Additionally, you may need to replace the batteries more often if you’re using the mower frequently or in particularly tough conditions (such as on hilly terrain or in wet weather). WORX 40V WG779E.2 Verdict The noise level is relatively low compared to other mowers on the market. The motor produces a gentle hum, which is much less jarring than the sound of a petrol mower. This makes it a more pleasant experience for the user and any nagging neighbours within earshot. No specific noise-reducing features are built into the mower, but the cordless technology replaces any typically whirring engine. Durability

A 2A charger is supplied along with a 30-litre collection box, a two-part plastic effort rather than the bag of the WG779E.2. Meanwhile, the mower has a choice of just three cutting heights: 30mm, 50mm and 70mm. Want your garden to look like a freshly cut football field? A rear roller produces a striped effect – gently flattening the grass for a well-manicured result. Cordless means poor battery life, right? The light weight, small size and fold away handles make this mower excellent for smaller to medium lawns or lawns with smaller strips of grass and for storage where space is limited. Higher settings a good choice for lower maintenance gardeners that mow less frequently. Keep the blade hight and you won’t remove too much grass at any one time, avoiding issues like scalping while encouraging healthy lawn development. With a total of six cutting heights available, the WG779E.2 offers a nice selection of positions for the blade to get the perfect cut in any condition. Ranging from 20mm to 70mm, the settings are suitable for varying lawn conditions, whether it’s long and overgrown grass or short, well-maintained grass. It isn’t as compact as some cordless mowers and doesn’t fold as neatly as the fantastically foldable Flymo EasiStore 340R Li. However, you can still relax the bolts on the top half of the handle and fold it over the lower half for storage. At roughly 12kg in weight, it’s also an easy mower to heft around: just grab the chunky orange handle in the centre and you’re good to go. There are six height positions to choose from, with the minimum being 20 millimetres while the highest is 70 millimetres. You can start at a higher setting and go down as you progress so that small grass will not miss a piece of the action. WORX WG779E.2 Cutting Diameter Besides, you can replace the blade after serving you properly, and the installation process of a new blade is as easy as ABC. Not only are you getting a precision cut with this mower but you’ll also notice that it features six cutting height positions so you’re free to get your lawn looking exactly how you want it – if the WORX WG743E.1 is anything, it’s versatile.

After giving the WORX WG779E.2 cordless lawn mower a thorough testing on my lawn, I’m well impressed with its performance. This mower is lightweight yet robust, making it a breeze to manoeuvre around landscaping and use for the full mowing session. Its build quality feels rather sturdy for the price point. The excellent battery performance is a big contributor to the success of this model, even more so when you consider how much more affordable the WG779E.2 is compared to other battery operated models. While the handles cannot be adjusted to accommodate different heights, they do come with soft cushion to help reduce vibrations and any fatigue when using it. Most will find it comfortable to use for the 30 minute runtime. Grass Collector and Edging

What’s more, unlike a plastic blade, steel will offer a much sharper and cleaner cut leaving you with a lawn you can be proud of. Not to mention the advantage that steel blades can easily be sharpened, when needed, providing a longer life-spam. Height Adjustment WORX introduced the two 20v batteries in 2018 to enable compatibility with their other cordless power tools of which there are 40 in the range. The two WORX batteries can be charged at the same time and the WORX WG779E.2 comes with an eco mode for lighter cuts, reducing the power and extending the cutting time. A 30L grass collector is included with the WG779E.2, meaning you won’t need to stop it during your mowing to empty the box. This capacity is perfect for smaller lawns, having ample space for lots of clippings, even on those mows where you remove a lot of length from the lawn. The grass box does come with a indicator flap to show you when the grass box is full, this is a nice handy feature from WORX. It’s tempting to say you should go for the more powerful Worx WG779E.2 instead but that’s also slightly more expensive and not quite as easy to lug and push around as the WG730E and, while it isn’t quite as good as Bosch’s excellent CityMower 18, the Worx WG730E is a whole lot better value.

The WORX WG734E.1 is certainly a lawn mower that is a cut above the rest, thanks to the innovative addition of intellicut technology, this product makes light work of even the most dense lawns. All of this without compromising on power, and in this modern life, who’s really got time for anything but? You’re getting unrivalled power as a result of the 2 x 4.0Ah batteries so you can feel confident that this tool will meet and exceed your expectations. If all of that wasn’t enough, the fast charger that is included in the box means that you won’t be waiting around to get to work – it’ll charge in just 60 minutes! The rotary blades are made from steel which is an extremely durable metal so you know that, even if you run into an unexpected obstacle, you’re not running the risk of causing any significant damage.I really struggled with this mower to find any downsides. The features are great and all seem to work well for a mower at this price point. The build quality cannot be faulted and it performs as it should. The 30cm cutting width isn’t huge, so this mower is at its best on smaller lawns and preferably well-treated flat ones, as a lot of lumps and divots can affect the regularity of the cut. When mowing, the WG779E performed excellently on my medium-sized garden, its cut-to-edge design allowing me to get closer to fences without digging out my strimmer afterwards. This again does not necessarily put it ahead of competitors but it’s good that WORX have taken advantage of what is clearly the most effective cutting system in the market.
