About this deal

In truth, there are only a few differences between the Xiaomi M365 and the newer Xiaomi 1S: the 1S is simply an upgraded M365. Indeed, the 1S should really be called an M365 Mark II or M366 or some such. But this guide will give you some extra details on what the differences are between the two Xiaomis. Generally speaking, as the M365 has been discontinued, it makes sense to buy the 1S. Compared to existing models, the 1S is an improvement with enhanced features over the M365. Performance and power The Xiaomi 1S is a foldable electric scooter designed by Chinese tech giant Xiaomi (pronounced "show-er-me"). It is manufactured by Ninebot, who also manufacture their own e-scooter (the Segway branded ES2). Like the M365, it has a simple folding design, 30 km (18 mile) range, 25 km/h (16 mph) top-speed, low weight and pneumatic tyres. It also boasts cruise control, front and rear lights, E-ABS brakes and a dedicated phone app (the Mi Home app seen below). The frame is also basically the same as the M365. The scooter has a maximum construction speed of 25 km/h. In the centre of the display is a button that allows you to switch between three modes:

When the Chinese electronics company announced the Xiaomi 1S earlier this year, many were curious as to what changes the new version would bring. Thankfully, the new e-scooter retains most of the features of the popular M365, with just a few much-needed tweaks to bring it up to speed with today’s competition. How do you decide between the Xiaomi 1S and the Xiaomi Pro 2? This brief guide will give you the details to help you choose between the two new Xiaomi scooters, focusing on the few differences between the Xiaomi Pro 2 and Xiaomi 1S. As mentioned, there is also a difference in the top speed of the scooters. The Essential has a top speed of 20 km/h (12 mph), whereas the 1S and Pro 2 have a top speed of 25 km/h (16 mph). As with the M365 Pro, the Pro 2 also has red trim on the front wheel. However, it is differentiated from the M365 Pro by the yellow reflectors, which are also found on the Essential and 1S (there has been confusion over whether the 1S will sport yellow because the original Chinese version of the Xiaomi 1S kept the red). In Sport mode, we reached maximum speed after 6 seconds during our test. Keep in mind that using the scooter in Sport mode drains the battery substantially faster than driving in Drive mode. The braking system The frame does not have suspension, but the pneumatic tyres provide light cushioning for uneven road surfaces. Some people believe that the box their scooter arrives in will tell them if their Xiaomi scooter is real or not, and this is true to a certain extent. Fake scooter boxes can look quite realistic, but they tend to be brown (when the Xiaomi 1S and Xiaomi Pro 2 scooter boxes are white). They also rarely cover all the bases. For instance, an authentic Xiaomi (or Segway) box has a lot of detail, including the hazmat warning sign (for the battery). Below is the box for the 1S. The Pro 2 box looks very similar, but the Essential comes in a brown box. The scooter is easy to carry in both its folded and upright state. Although it isn’t exactly what you’d describe as a featherweight, at 12.5kg it’s not going to give you a hernia lugging it on and off the train or in and out of your car boot. This is a great scooter for those thinking of replacing public transport or even a bicycle with something smaller, more convenient and easier to stash in a flat or office. It offers a great mix of performance, durability and comfort at a price that won’t break the bank. Furthermore, the battery management system has six innovative protections to keep the battery safe and extend its life. The Mi Home app monitors the battery continuously and flags up any problems immediately. We would always recommend wearing a helmet when riding an electric scooter. Most scooter injuries seem to happen when a pothole (or similar) is encountered and the smallish wheels are indeed susceptible to such obstacles. Please read my post Are Electric Scooters Safe? for more information and statistics on the safety of electric scooters. As we often point out, as of May 2022, it is not legal to ride privately owned electric scooters on public roads in Britain, although few police forces take any action against riders.

There’re enough changes to call it an update, but some fans wanting more may be disappointed. If you’ve already got a world-beating e-scooter and need to satisfy new European legislation, Xiaomi has decided not to reinvent the wheel. In the centre of the display is the function button. The following functions can be operated with it: Operation Update: The Xiaomi M365 is arguably the world best-selling electric scooter. However, this year Xiaomi gave the M365 a much-needed upgrade, resulting in the brilliant Xiaomi 1S electric scooter. As we noted in our Xiaomi 1S review, the Xiaomi 1S retains many of the best features of the Xiaomi M365 – including its manageable weight, motor wattage and maximum rider – while adding a few much-needed upgraded to bring it up to speed with today’s competition. After a few practices, you can fold the scooter within seconds. In our opinion, folding the 1S is smoother than we experienced while reviewing the Xiaomi Scooter 3 . Once folded, you can lift the scooter with you by the handlebar tube. The handlebar and dashboardElectric Rider has an extensive range of electric transport options from affordable city to premium road e-bikes, e-scooters and more. Find out what’s on offer with my Electric Rider discounts and promotions.

Hailing from the 2020 lineup of Xiaomi, this entry-level scooter that’s cheap and accessible goes head-to-head with Xiaomi’s earlier releases as the two offerings go tooth and nail to compete on price and performance. However, it can be very hard to tell a fake Xiaomi from a real Xiaomi by looking at it. Indeed, companies go to great lengths to make their scooters look real. With the new range, Xiaomi have tried to combat the issue by branding the stem with an orange "MI" followed by a "mi.com" in grey. So this is a new way to distinguish originals from replicas, but of course producers of fakes will soon be adding these. A fake will be missing the real serial number too, but this requires taking a close look at the scooter in person and fake serial numbers can be added to fake scooters. The image below shows the location/format of the serial number. Tip: the right side of the handlebar leaves just enough room for a smartphone holder. Ideal if you occasionally want to use the navigation on your phone:

The Xiaomi 1S electric scooter is far from being the perfect scooter, but the best thing about it is that you get what you pay for, along with a little more. It has a maximum climbing range of 14% and only weighs around 27.6 lbs, which is still quite heavy for an entry-level scooter. The good thing about it is that it has a maximum load capacity of 220 lb. On top of that, it only takes four hours to charge. The Xiaomi Pro 2 is slightly bigger than the Xiaomi 1S; being a few centimetres longer and taller (when unfolded). Otherwise, the physical differences are negligable and purely aesthetic: as with the original Xiaomi Pro e-scooter, the Pro 2 has a red rim around the front wheel, while the reflectors are red on the on the Xiaomi 1S and yellow on the Xiaomi Pro 2 .

The new Xiaomi 1S retains many of the same features as its predecessor - the M365 - and it's now at its cheapest price ever!

The handlebar and dashboard are straightforward and leave little to the imagination. The (non-adjustable) handlebars are 43 centimetres wide and 114 centimetres high . With the left thumb you can operate the bell and with the right thumb you accelerate. If you switch on the scooter for the first time, you will hear it beep and see lights flashing on the display. By connecting to the scooter via the Mi Home app , you can register and activate the 1S. Here, you will also be shown an instructional video on how to use the vehicle safely. After completing these steps, you are ready to hit the road. It’s not really a powerful electric scooter, but the Xiaomi brand makes up for a trustworthy name that you surely won’t be disappointed in. It lets patrons and consumers opt for a quality e-scooter and a great price from a trusted brand, overall making the Xiaomi 1S a great option to weigh in when looking for an electric scooter for the daily commute. There is a light on the charger that indicates when the scooter is fully charged. To maintain the battery, it is advisable not to completely empty the battery every time you ride, but to charge it when it is still 20-30% full. Portability and weight
