About this deal

I had been planning to get the DXR10s but took a chance on the DBRs -- which are 1/3 cheaper. Although I think the DXRs would be a bit more versatile and capable of filling a larger room with sound, for my purposes I'm glad I saved the money. (I could've saved a little more by skipping the sub and going with a pair of DXR15s, but then I would've lost grab-and-go versatility.) The D-Contour switch on the rear panel instantly optimises the DBR10 for positioning between a floor monitor and ear-level front of house. By tailoring the high frequency throw and angle, you can retain the detail and clarity, regardless of positioning.

An angle of 90 degrees’ horizontal and 60 degrees’ vertical is used for horn coverage. The base of the cabinet body comprises a 35mm pole mount. The body itself is molded and has a top handle, which is carefully placed. DBR Series powered loudspeakers harness the same state-of-the-art Yamaha DSP, amplifier and speaker technologies developed for the professional DSR Series and DXR Series lineups, ensuring high-resolution sound at any output level. High-Efficiency 1000W Class-D Amplifiers Compared these with DXR8's, DXR10's, K8's, and K10's in both playing music through them and using them live with both band situations and solo acoustic environments. They are every bit the speaker that I compared them too. Are there slight nuances that are different? Of course... every speaker has its own characteristic. That being said the new DBR series speakers will provide you the same sonic experience as DXR series Yamaha's and the K series QSC's with a little less power and plastic rather than metal exteriors. (in other words, they will scratch easier) You might get many options when purchasing a speaker at the same price as a DBR10. Among those options, there is a possibility that you get more features as compared to a DBR10. The cone is placed beneath a horn-loaded compression driver about 1 inch in size. A perforated steel grille has been used to protect the tweeter and the woofer. A DSP is utilized to deal with the crossover and speaker capacities. The cross-over (an FIR filter) is of 2.1kHz.

For your consideration

The horn coverage angle is specified as 90 degrees horizontal by 60 degrees vertical. The main body of the cabinet is moulded and includes a sensibly placed top handle, as well as the expected 35mm pole mount in the base. Yamaha tell us that the DBR series of speakers, of which the DBR10 is the smallest, benefits from the transducer, amplifier and DSP technologies developed for Yamaha’s more upmarket DSR and DXR ranges. If you need something larger than this one, then there are 12–inch and 15–inch models in the range. The DBR10 has a frequency response of 55Hz to 20kHz. If you are a solo acoustic or duo act, don't even hesitate. These speakers sound every bit as good as the DXR and K series in that environment and for substantially less money. In a band situation remember that these are 10" speakers, so for smaller bands and smaller venues it will handle it quite nicely, but don't expect these things to cover a huge club... they were not designed for that. DBR Series speakers feature an optimized 50 degrees wedge angle for floor monitoring. In addition the DBR12 and DBR15's symmetrical shape allows for effortless configuration of a mirror-mode floor monitoring system in either symmetrical or stereo sound field setups. Easy-to-use Onboard 2-Channel Mixer In addition to their standard two-year warranty, Yamaha are now offering an extension of an extra two years when you register your product with your Yamaha Music ID within six months of purchasing it. First off I've been running my Line6 HD500X through an old school Pioneer Head Unit that Pushes Twin Akia Speakers which has a total power of 500W. The Yamaha Speakers take the sound and brings clarity with the FRFR, I set the gain to 0db on the speaker and OH the glorious stereo guitar effect sounds I've been missing when I pair two of the DBR10's together. The DBR10's have the option to be pole mounted(Which I would suggest doing) or as floor monitors. The speaker is also loaded with a transducer, an amplifier, and DSP technologies. The DSP technology is a staple for Yamaha’s high-end speaker models. The frequency response of the speaker is around 55Hz to 20kHz. The DBR10 also utilizes an intelligent enclosure design. With an optimised 50° wedge angle, you can use your loudspeaker as a powerful floor monitor. You can use the phenomenal sound of your DBR active speaker to keep you in the loop with regards to your performance. And with M8 rigging points, suspending your DBR10 is easy, making it ideal for more permanent installations. ProvenSoundwaves change based on various elements. A crowd of people can diminish how loud the music sounds. Other obstructions like walls and furnishings can also diminish the volume. One needs to use a mic that does not require phantom power to connect it directly to the speaker. The sound then produced is also clearly projected towards the audience. The speakers are unique in handling acoustic guitar and other keyboard sounds. The DBR's lightweight, high performance Class-D amplifier is capable of producing up to 1000W* of power, achieving an SPL of 132dB, delivered with remarkable clarity and dynamic characteristics. *DBR10 has an output level of 700W. Custom Designed Transducer However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers.
