Shinobu has seen everything, but instead develops romantic feelings for this new, more assertive and active version of her husband, without suspecting a thing. His crimes are loosely based on those of Tsutomu Miyazaki , a Serial Killer who had gained major publicity in Japanese media in the years leading up to Part 4's publication. Like Kira, Miyazaki's murders were motivated in part by an erotic fixation on his victims severed body-parts, and he was known as a seemingly unremarkable working-age adult living in his parents home while committing his crimes (though Miyazaki was unemployed at the time).In Kira's eyes, he views Jotaro and Koichi to be this, viewing them responsible for his predicament of being forced to hide under a new identity. It was Koichi who first uncovered Kira's identity by stealing his driver's license, dealing a heavy blow to the serial killer's ego.
