my theory still stands: colleen hoover, ironically, cannot write a good romance. i believe every single one of her books has these terrible, wild plot twists to cover up the fact that she cannot. lily and atlas had zero chemistry apart from them talking about how miserable they were when they first met and how they were each other’s saving grace. This book is going to be turned into a movie! If you like this book, you should watch it! i dont think the second book was necessary tbh. And the only thing i liked about ( it starts with us ) was atlas and getting to know him and his past better and watching how well he’s progressed through it all and how strong he’s become. I also loved all his romantic moments with lily because they both deserve each other. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan - her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened. This all sounds rather harsh, but it's really not that bad. It was an alright way to pass a few hours if you're not quite ready to leave the world of Lily and Atlas. This pleasant and unexciting story won't leave you breathless, but it shouldn't offend either. Just be ready to forget about it almost as soon as you're done.Let me start by saying this: there’s going to be a lot of hate for this book for the sole reason people just want to dislike this author for their popularity and there’s this hate train going on for the littlest things this author does so I already know people are going to just come out of the woodworks and find the tiniest thing to hate on this. That is not to say that this book is perfect or that your review will be disingenuous. Books are subjective-- therefore there can be books that I love you hate, and books I hate that you love. I just don't understand or stand for the unwarranted amount of hate that goes into BASHING books just for the way they are written. Hoover does a great job of (at least per my own experience) depicting some of Lily’s feelings/ inner thoughts, etc. in regards to being a domestic abuse survivor. It stays with you. This lends perspective - and a few different ones at that - to an important subject. Everyone should read this. It might just open your eyes and your mind. I finished it ends with us a few months ago, and i kinda liked it especially the ending because it was the best decision. I didnt like lily’s personality in the beginning because it was weak, but when the ending came i felt relieved because it felt like she had progressed and made me feel like she is stronger now. The ending was good and it should’ve stopped right there, i liked it because it left us to imagine what will happen next.what made me dislike the second book was lily’s personality, because I thought that she had overcome all her weaknesses and had finally become stronger but this book crushed all of those thoughts for me.
