The 6,600sqm development contains state of the art facilities that is inclusive to all members. The development includes an expansive gym, fully glazed on the south facing elevation allowing natural light to fill the gym space and the latest advanced equipment to challenge members to achieve their personal best and fitness goals. Previously subdivided into two administrative offices, the space appeared dark and uninspiring despite the large windows that give the rooms so much light. Our design sought to create an open and inviting space, flooded with light and allowing customers to seek advice from the staff at the till from anywhere within the store. The main focus of the club's exterior is the 25-meter outdoor heated swimming pool, which features a heated kids' pool and a south-facing terrace to maximize the number of usable hours and enhance the value of the relaxation and pool area for members. The principal clubroom area and internal pool open up onto the external terrace, creating interconnected views and linking internal and external uses. All external lighting uses energy-efficient LED light sources. The hard landscaping materials are used to define the various functional zones of the terrace and spa garden areas. The statement, from Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson, said: "The inflatable air-dome will allow tennis to be played on the courts all year round regardless of weather conditions." The property is well situated to serve students from the University of East Anglia, one of the UK’s top 25 ranked universities, and Norwich University of the Arts. The property is set to benefit from strong demand for student accommodation from the two universities’ 17,000 students, with 63% of their full-time students currently unable to access university or purpose built student accommodation in Norwich.” James Childs, UK Construction Director, Global Student Accommodation HCD were the original architects for St Vincent’s Church, and over more than a century and a half later, HCD has played a leading role in the development of the church building, from the original church design, through numerous upgrades, extensions and redecorations from 1854 through to the late 1960s.

The stadium and surrounding campus, designed for elite sport, creating an exceptional atmosphere, with advanced facilities, offering all competitors and fans an inclusive and distinctive experience. St Vincent’s Church was completed and dedicated in 1856.

When developing the building section, the principle aim was to minimise the amount of internal volume whilst providing a flexible space which could accommodate as many sports as possible. The building’s section allows the internal volume to be enclosed within a very efficient envelope, benefiting the end user as the building’s future maintenance and running costs will be significantly reduced. Alegre-Wood, Brett. "Sheffield Property Launch | Why own a student pod when you can own the whole apartment?" . Retrieved 2 May 2017. HCD became involved with the project in early 2009 to help deliver a building that complied with the developer’s planning obligation whilst remaining within a tight budget. At Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson Architects, our architectural ethos is to innovate and promote sustainable building practices. We utilise a "fabric first" approach to sustainability and low energy initiatives, prioritizing these over more expensive, less renewable mechanical or electrical building services. This approach helps to reduce capital and operational costs, improve energy efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions.By placing glazing at ground level on the southern facade, the boundary between the internal lounge and external terrace, as well as the internal and external pools, is blurred and movement is encouraged between them. The activities seen inside are an advertisement for the club and encourage users outside to explore the possible activities inside. Glazing is used extensively in areas of maximum activity within the building and used sparingly elsewhere, to give the building a feeling of vibrant activity. As an architect, Matthew E Hadfield was an early follower of the Gothic revival movement, led by A.W.N. Pugin, and directly contributed to the revival of Mediaeval and Gothic Architecture. He designed numerous Catholic Churches, the most notable of which being St Marie’s Church, Sheffield; elevated to cathedral status in 1980, St John the Evangelist, Salford, elevated to cathedral status in 1850 and The Cathedral of the Annunciation and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen, Ireland, completed in 1860.
