About this deal

No more taking time to think about what you’re going to focus on and aquiring focus. Just set it and forget it!

There is a downside to the compact body of the Ricoh GR 3 and Ricoh GR 3 X, their small size only allows for a small-sized battery like the Ricoh DB-110. If you are using the GR III series as a second camera for your point-and-shoot action, then the power restriction might not be a big issue. But if you want to use the GR III exclusively, we would recommend adding one or two spare batteries to your bag to see you through the whole day.

When using the PEG image processing and editing function "Trimming", the ADJ display for aspect ratio selection is now aligned with the selected aspect ratio.

The optics of the Ricoh GR III receive a score of 68/100. This camera features a 24-megapixel CMOS sensor, coupled with a GR Engine 6 processor. It has a shooting speed of 4 frames per second and a DXOMARK sensor score of 76. The sensor size is APS-C, providing good image quality in various lighting conditions.

Conclusion

RAW format data can be processed on the camera and saved as a JPEG file. Tune the photo exactly the way you want using just the camera, adjusting the recorded pixels, aspect ratio, white balance, Image Control and sensitivity.

Hands down, my favorite feature of any GR camera is the Snap Focus mode. In a nutshell, Snap Focus mode lets you set a fixed focus distance and use aperture to create the amount of depth of field you need to get your subject in focus. Now I’m a manual exposure kind of shooter. But there are times when AE would come in handy. Partly cloudy days when the light is changing rapidly and unpredictably. Or if I’m in and out of buildings. There’s rarely time to meter the scene without missing the shot!

Highlight-Weighted AE FTW!

Shake Reduction and Dust Removal are two technologies that have been inherited from Pentax's cameras, which have been under the Ricoh umbrella for some time now, and on the GR III these are joined by other Pentax technologies such as Peripheral Illumination Correction to combat vignetting, and D-Range Correction to better balance shadows and highlights. Image plane phase-matching AF delivers high-speed AF and contrast-detection AF offers superb focusing precision. The best of these two types are combined to make a hybrid AF. The common issue of searching for focus peaks in contrast-detection AF has been significantly reduced on this model. The hybrid system delivers faster autofocus and greater precision. The camera detects faces and focuses. This feature is enabled in [Auto Area AF], [Select AF], and [Pinpoint AF]. It is also possible to enable this feature in [Auto Area AF] only. With this setting, when you want to focus on a subject instead of faces, simply switch focus modes without turning face detect off. Thanks to the originally developed SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism, the GR III effectively compensates for camera shake at the time of shutter release. Its three-axis mechanism minimizes adverse effects of camera shake caused by pitch, yaw and roll by as much as four shutter steps.
