The Dyatlov Pass incident, as this grisly event came to be known, remains unexplained to this day. The book has, again, some wildly fast-paced action sequences, endless twists and turns (some of which are actually surprising), lush writing and great attention to detail, and an array of interesting, complex characters most of whom end up behaving like monsters a good part of the time. The author has a flair for dramatic, cinematic scenes - so much in fact that it's sometimes possible to anticipate how certain scenes will play out because of this - and this series final is a grandiose ending to a complex (convoluted, perhaps) story with staggeringly many layers and points of view. Well, in many ways the second Ryan Drake story is much like the first: there's a lot of fast paced action, multiple characters who all get their moment to shine, interesting locations, conspiracies to unearth, and a seemingly simple mission that turns out much more complex and dangerous than the characters ever expected. It's a book that's hard to put down until the whole story is finished, that's for sure.
