About this deal

Clip-on mudguards don’t require the frame to have eyelets or long-reach brake callipers, or extra clearance. Instead, they attach to the frame using simple fastenings like rubber bands, Velcro or zip ties. This gives far more versatility than full-length mudguards as you aren’t hindered by bike choice, and it means you can keep riding your favourite road bike through the winter if you want to. A new addition to the Velo family! The VELOFLEXX mudguard set combines the stability of a fixed mudguard with the flexibility of a clip-on mudguard. This mudguard profits of a continous profile. Therefore it’s only compatible with disc brakes. The Topeak Tetrafender G1 & G2 Set is a decent way to add splatter protection to your gravel bike, over tyres up to 50mm (2in) wide. With adjustable length, fittings and generous coverage, along with tidy looks, they're a good option between ultralight-removable and fully-fitted fenders. There are a few concerns regarding impact-resistance and longevity, mind. As a responsible retailer we take all steps possible to ensure that our business meets all requirements of any EU & UK consumer protection laws, particularly the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation & Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and other legislation specific to the products that we sell.

The other advantage of these mudguards is that they offer the most protection to the bicycle. They keep all the water and mud away from the rim brake callipers (if your bike has them), which really don't like being dowsed in gritty water, and it's the same for the front derailleur. They also keep water away from a saddle bag and rear light that you might have attached to the saddle/seatpost, so that's another plus for mudguards. I have these and they are very good...BUT in fixing the previous problem when the guards tended to become unclipped they have made the fixing a bit too good. I have one guard that will come off but the other one will not unclip for love nor money. I must have spent an hour last night (with assistance as well) and we simply could not remove the front wheel longer guard from its clip. In the end I had to resort to removing the clip (with guard attached) by carefully unscrewing the brake bolt and then threading the clip through the bridge (which was all a little awkward with the guard in place). combines the stability of a fixed mudguard with the flexibility of a clip-on mudguard. I agree that the SKS post sales support is excellent so I may get in touch with them, then again I may simply accept that the guard is simply fixed which is somewhat ironic given the failings of the mk1. You have to like the mountain bike-ish look though, and not be worried about spattering people behind you.

If you've never used mudguards, you’ll probably be surprised at how much difference they make. A lot of the water that covers you when you ride in the rain doesn’t come directly from the clouds, it’s thrown up from the road surface by your tyres, especially in lovely British drizzle. At the front, the Veloflexx is mounted on the fork bridge with a rubberised hook and loop fastener or a cable tie. Spray protection depends on the tyre and mudguard width you use, but the 45mm tyres on my test bike were dwarfed by the generous width of these ‘guards. A new addition to the Velo family: the Veloflexx 55 mudguard set made of high-performance impact-resistant plastic

Mountain bikes, because of the huge variety of design thanks to factors like suspension and huge tyres, need a mudguard fitted very high above the wheel. The solution is a rear mudguard that clips onto the seatpost so the height above the wheel can be adjusted, and a front mudguard that's attached to the down tube. Given all this and the five-year warranty, it's really hard to look past these guards. The availability of spares is a plus too, and my personal experience of SKS's warranty dept is second to none – they really look after customers. Value Ultimately, products are only as good as an individual finds them. I look forward to the mk3 version I've broken several bits, generally through being an idiot. SKS customer service always came through, replacing broken parts free of charge every time. There's a five-year warranty for manufacturing defects as well. The great customer service makes SKS owners fiercely loyal to the brand and its products – pretty much everyone in my local club now runs RBLs, and whether or not they can be mounted is a key consideration come new bike time.
