About this deal

Doris: “She lives for the day she can change her name from West, what with all the connotations and what have you, and what does she become? A Shipman.” Owain Hughes ( Steven Meo) – one of Gavin's co-workers at his new job in Cardiff in Series 3. Constantly the subject of an unclear joke – "My name is Owain Hughes and before you ask, no I don't!". And before you ask, no I don’t (care about Owain Hughes). All of Smithy Gavin’s mates that aren’t Deano

Stacey: “I had a brunch I did. Oh, I got up so late cos I set the alarm for ten but I didn’t get up till gone eleven and I thought well I’m too early for lunch and I’m too late for breakfast, so I just had a banana. But if anything that made me more hungry. So I ended up having a sandwich, some cereal and a yoghurt, which is brunch innit? So I rang my mum and I said I’ve just had my first ever brunch.” Glorified extras. Including Budgie and Fingers in this dump, even if they are fit. Essential but I don’t really like them tier Gavin I honestly dropped my phone on the floor when I realised! My friend Caitlin rang me and was like ‘have you seen, have you seen?’ My friends told me to turn my phone off as my notifications were going mad as it gradually got bigger. As soon as I did is the moment that James Corden decides to retweet me. His reaction has made it all worth it.

Lucy – Smithy's much younger girlfriend, who is still in secondary school. She is never seen on-screen, and dumps Smithy in Series 2 when he discovers that she has been seeing somebody else. In a running joke meant to illustrate the age gap between her and Smithy, she is often mentioned to be doing activities that would normally be associated with younger people (such as Brownies or trampolining).

Bryn: “I cannot speak the Welsh language. It’s a constant source of embarrassment to me, but Welsh is not my mother tongue.” Scott – One of Doris' much younger boyfriends, whom she casually describes as "a bit of a pothead". Will there be a Christmas special next year? Do we even want one – maybe it's time to draw a line? The final verdict The brilliance of Doris is the show never overuses her. She comes when she comes, has an iconic scene and leaves us gagging for more. Whether she’s flipping off Jean at the barn dance, “where’s the salad”-ing or singing a timeless rendition of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out – Doris is perfect. Rest in peace to a sex positive icon. Dawn and PeteSeries 2 sees big changes for Smithy, as he finds out he is the father of Nessa's baby. Being the decent fella he is, he offered to support Nessa, even though she begins dating Dave (whom she previously dated).

Once the wedding day has arrived, he has made a Speech that he claims is comedy gold. However, when it comes to the actual speech, he cannot complete the speech as he breaks down in tears. Later on, Nessa states that she has something to tell him, but decides it is nothing. Bravo then, to all involved in the show. Oh go on, all together now…“Meet me tomorrow, I’ll wait by the window for you…”! Finally, Sheridan Smith is a series regular as Smithy's younger sister Ruth "Rudi" Smith. She's immature but kind and also likes to be called Smithy. How many seasons of Gavin and Stacey are available? Japanese Margaret – A friend of Pam and Dawn's whose name came up during the protest over the telephone mast. Bryn on Smithy] “He’s a lovely looking boy. Not in the conventional sense, like Gavin or Enrique Iglesias, but he’s got a lovely spirit. A confidence, if you will, that you rarely find in a fat man.”It was simple. Everyone’s personality fitted it personally, and that’s why I ended up as Nessa. We also had a Facebook event in the run-up to it, where we posted who we’d go as to avoid doubles. So yes, Gavin & Stacey has a strong premise, quotable lines, engaging characters and top performances throughout. But, truth be told, I don’t think these are the only reasons that the show was so popular. Jesus (Daniel Curtis) – A friend of Gavin and Smithy's. He only appears in the stag episode; most likely owing to the fact that no one in the group really seems to like him. As the show progressed, it spent more and more time in this central section where laughs meet big topics. In series one, Gavin and Stacey’s relationship showed us the ideal romantic timeline of dating, engagement and marriage. Meanwhile, Nessa and Smithy showed us the less glossy alternative: one night stand with someone you don’t even claim to like, awkwardly trying to avoid each other, unplanned pregnancy.

In Series 1, Smithy thinks that Gavin should not get his hopes up when they are going to meet Stacey, and believes that she might not turn up. And despite the fact that he did not want to go with Gavin, he rather enjoys himself when he is there. He and Nessa have the first of four One Night Stands, which occurred in the en-suite of the hotel room, and involved a toilet brush. Stacey's mum Gwen is a cheerful character who loves her daughter and is known for making omelets! Sheridan Smith Edna Sutcliffe ( Edna Doré) – Pete's mother, only seen once in the Christmas Special, where Pete forgot her and she stayed behind the bar overnight. A big nope from me. Introduced as Smithy’s new girlfriend in the 2019 Christmas special, no one’s supposed to like Sonia anyway. But I don’t think she even succeeds on that level… She’s just pointless. This special should have just had Smithy and Nessa together, or at least both single and they get together over the course of the special. Sonia enters the game too late. Flop. Jason Rob Brydon’s also said it’s very impressive and Sheridan Smith gave it a like.” You were Nessa? How did you decide who would take each role?Smithy: “I’ve been thinking about ending it all to be honest, suicide…big time. How many Nurofen would I need to finish me off?” N' Simon (Daniel Jeffrey) – A friend of Gavin and Smithy's. He has been friends with them since primary school. He is never seen without his best friend Gary; but he does not appear in Series 3, as it appears he has had an argument with Gary. David "Dave Coaches" Lloyd Gooch ( Steffan Rhodri) – Coach driver in Barry and Nessa's fiancé, after they got engaged in the Christmas special. Aspersions are cast regarding his sexual health in Series 1, although it is revealed in Series 2 that he has been to "the clinic". He is the only person, other than Bryn and Jason, who knows what happened on the fishing trip, after Bryn told him to get the matter off his chest. His relationship with Nessa results in both Bryn and Jason being incredibly nervous about him telling their friends what happened, although he makes it very clear to Bryn he wouldn't tell anyone about it. He also has his own company named Dave's Coaches. He often shows jealousy towards Smithy for being the father of Nessa's child. Smithy gets jealous of him for always spending time with his son and treating him like his own. In the final episode he leaves Nessa at the altar as he doesn't believe she loves him. Nessa's father mentions him having "blood on his hands", but says he was joking, knowing that "nothing was proven". Dave often has a strained relationship with the other characters, and has publicly had angry exchanges with Bryn, Smithy and Pete, who punched Dave in the face after he made an uncharitable remark about his wife, Dawn. When Dave becomes engaged to Nessa, Smithy thinks that it is a bad idea as he thinks that Dave shouldn't act as Baby Neil's father. He tells Nessa not to marry him, she cannot understand why as it is her business, and not for Smithy to get involved in despite the fact that she can tell it is about Baby Neil.
