About this deal

Blue Moranth, ocean-going clan of the Moranth - functioned as their Navy/Merchant Marines branch (Mentioned only) [13] Sex for Solace: This is the reason Challice and Cutter begin sleeping together. She is disillusioned with her marriage and he is trying to get over being a stranger in his own home city, as well as being left behind by Apsalar.

We end the chapter with another run down- Thordy is setting flatstones in her garden in a particular pattern. Spite is still lounging in the ship, she has noticed the proximity of her kin. And little Harllo will soon be lost to darkness.Bellurdan, aka 'Skullcrusher', High Mage of the Malazan Empire, mate of Nightchill (Mentioned only) [14] Crone asks Baruk to stand a safe distance away and he asks how could he do that. He sends the soul home and with this Crone departs in a hurry, since she now has news to ease her master's mind. Vorcan is coming. Baruk sends for the remaining cabal mage, Derudan. He realises that there are only 3 mages left to stand against the return of the tyrant. He wonders who among them will betray the others.

Welcome to the Malazan Re-read of the Fallen! Every post will start off with a summary of events, followed by reaction and commentary by your hosts Bill and Amanda (with Amanda, new to the series, going first), and finally comments from Tor.com readers. In this article, we’ll cover Chapter Six of Toll the Hounds (TtH). We created a long winded introduction to TtH including character summaries and some plot reminders to help you along. The Seerdomin wears his old uniform as a form of public declaration of guilt and self flagellation. He leaves the city and treks to the Great Barrow, which is a regualar occurence to him. Unlike the worshippers, he visits the Redeemer everyday to offer him company, to seek the humanity of the one made god by everyone else. Might as well share the prayer here: Ax-Crazy: Amby and Jula Bole are just as creative in their use of weaponry and disregard for the safety of everyone involved as their brother Crump is.

Young Harllo’s story is presented in stark form, through the matter-of-fact words of a child. We learn that he is bullied by his sadistic cousin, that his mother (Stonny) was raped and he is the product, that his adoptive parents are both struggling and hence Harllo has to take on a large amount of work in the house, including stealing sufficient food. Note: something unexpected came up and Amanda won’t be posting today, though she will catch up to us in the comments. She sends her apologies.) Averted when Samar Dev notices they are being followed by a giant bear. It turns out to be a forgotten god, lured in because Samar Dev is a witch and capable of preserving it's last shred of existence. When asked about the unique and divisive tone and style of the novel, Steven Erikson stated that he had planned to write the novel with Kruppe's voice "from very early on in the series". [2] Plot [ edit ] Hinter, the ghost of a long dead sorcerer/necromancer, resident of "Hinter's Tower" in Darujhistan [13]

Outside-Context Problem: Fisher kel Tath to the Assassins Guild. When they annoy him enough, he pretty much smears Guild Master Seba Krafar across the wall. OK, now I’ve said to make sure you’re keeping the gods straight among the Crippled God, the Dying God, and the Redeemer. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t parallels/similarities among them. We’ve had many references to the CG’s pain, including in the scene with Baruk’s summoning, and here we have great pain/torment associated with the Dying God as well. Something to keep in mind.

It seems to me that Traveller looks upon the rent that the K’Chain Che’Malle matron used to seal, near Morn: “All that bled from it now was pain, a sour, unyielding stench that seemed as thirsty as the ravaged landscape stretching out on all sides.” Completely agree with Nimander when he thinks: “Oh, we are a vicious bunch, are we not?” There are so many undercurrents here—hatred and jealousy and indifference and spite. Not entirely pleasant to read about, however well written it might be. OK, outside of all the layers/metaphors/sociological insights of kelyk, at its core, it’s just kinda gross. Thus endeth my deep insight for the day.

Funny close to a scene fraught with some tension and heartbreak (I also love the tiny detail of Shadowthrone turning his entire throne around to watch Traveller leave). One imagines there isn’t much that makes Traveller afraid. Makes for a nice close then, this anticipation of the meeting between him and Karsa. Raest, a Jaghut Tyrant (retired), Guardian of the Azath House in Darujhistan (First mentioned) [3] (
