Overall, putting a child seat on your bike is a great way to get around with your child. Just make sure you do your research and select the right seat for your bike and your child’s weight. Is a front or rear child bike seat safer? There are a few different types of bike seats available. The most common type is the rear-mounted seat, which attaches to the rear axle of the bike. With a head tube-mounted seat an issue that may crop up is that there's not enough space between the bike seat and your saddle. This will depend on the combination of the geometry of your bike, your height and the seat.
