About this deal

I seriously doubt that. ED is an integral function that you can directly employ within LR and without having to invoke a separate routine to preprocess the image before taking it into LR. Perhaps I’m missing something here, but perhaps you can explain how jumping into iXT, then processing the image within LR, is faster and more efficient than an in-line function wholly contained within LR. What’s more, if you happen to favor processing in LR (as I do), it avoids either an added step (iXT) or, worse, having to change to different processing software, such as C1. I’m first and foremost a street photographer. I use primes. I use wide’ish to standard’ish primes. Not long telezooms. I appreciate a small kit, not a big one. But with that being said, I know there are MANY photographic disciplins that simply require a lens such as the 50-140mm. Weed Vineyard, 15 January 2015. Fuji X-E2 at ISO 200, 50-140mm at 140mm wide-open at f/2.8 at 1/850, Athentech Perfectly Clear. Unprocessed camera-original JPG.

While that doesn’t compare to the performance of the current-day flagship models, it produced exceptional image quality with the Fuji 50-140mm.The images produced by the Fujifilm XF 50-140mm f/2.8 are of course going to also be a result of the camera in use at the time.

Pineapple, 15 January 2015. Fuji X-E2, Fuji 50-140mm at 56mm, f/8 at 1/50 hand-held at Auto ISO 200, Athentech Perfectly Clear V2. Full-resolution. Results: The 50-140mm has better contrast and better sharpness in the corners at wide apertures than the 55-200mm.

Cons: What you’ll want to consider before buying

The two main contenders for this range: the 50-140 and its (much) less expensive counterpart, the 55-200mm. Fujinon XF 50-140mm f2.8 R WR LM OIS

It’s got the key features of a premium lens: constant f2.8 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), weather resistance, smooth internal zoom, fast to focus, stunning sharpness and image quality. Inside the micro-corrugated cardboard box are pulp-formed cardboard holders for the plastic-wrapped lens and hood. A small folded tray of microcorrugated cardboard lies on top to hold the manual and lens wrapping cloth. In short, if you have the money to invest in this lens, you won’t be sorry you did. It creates stunning photos and is the absolute top quality when it comes to Fuji telephoto lenses.Distortion is completely invisible, at least as shot as JPGs on my Fuji X-E2, which for all I know is correcting it automatically.

This was extremely helpful when on safari, because I didn’t know how close I would be to an animal. They can be really far away, or right next to the Range Rover. Thanks to its triple-linear focus-motors, the Fujifilm XF 50-140mm f/2.8 is fast and silent to operate– amazing given how much glass it’s moving. One final thing of note is the hood. As with most of Fuji’s hoods to date, it is made from plastic. However, it does have one interesting feature. There is a small tab that detaches, allowing you to turn filters like a CPL without actually removing the hood itself. For those who use filters a lot, this could be an excellent addition. Optical Image Stabilization Fuji mentions only a 10 foot (3 meter) close focus distance if you're not in the Macro mode, but I've never seen this.
