About this deal

In this article, we’ll not only look at what makes the Secret Rare Gengar VMAX Alternate Art such a great card, but we will also decode the illustrator’s motive behind the card, and also try to predict what the value of the card might be in the future!

So till then, why not ponder over the cards that we already know are quite popular, like this phenomenal Secret Rare Gengar VMAX Alternate Art, the name surely is a mouthful. Pre-release events for Sword & Shield – Fusion Strike will be held at official Pokémon TCG tournament stores the weekend of October 30th, 2021. The future value will be determined purely by the supply of the card, so if there are no reprints, the card might hold the value, but expect the price to drop once other expansions come out! I'll get to the good stuff soon, but if this is generally well received I plan to share future set data as well. This is the first time I've gathered this data myself so we'll just see how it goes and let me know if there's other data you'd be interested in seeing and can change my model! The set is rumored to include Alternate Art cards that were cut from previous sets and others that were released as Japanese promos are part of earlier sets. This includes Celebi V Alternate Art, Sandaconda V Alternate Art, Espeon VMAX Alternate Art, Inteleon VMAX Alternate Art, and Gengar VMAX Alternate Art. The last of the four is almost a guarantee, as Gengar VMAX appears as a set mascot.

Before we deep dive into what the card means, we need to understand the Pokemon on the card and what it is capable of. The Secret Rare Gengar VMAX Alternate Art features the Gengar in its gigantamax form in which it becomes significantly larger than normal, and its body below the torso sinks into the ground. The next set will be Pokemon brilliant stars which will contain the all-new V-star mechanic to the game, so maybe the VMAX cards won’t be the top tier cards that they are right now. But who knows, anything can happen. It is expected that the Shiny Pokémon appearing on a Gold Card this time around with be Flaaffy. Flaaffy was the one and only Shiny Gold Card in the Japanese set Fusion Arts, so it is very likely that it will be the one and only Shiny Gold Card in Sword & Shield – Fusion Strike. For the alternate art categories, I've also compiled some sub-data regarding the specific "chase cards" Starting when PokeTubers started getting their promotional booster boxes a couple weeks ago, I've spent the time and watched several hours of YouTube booster box openings and worked my excel spreadsheets to the bone to pull this data together. I'm not a statistician by trade, but to me there's something fun about data gathering (I think they call that being a nerd, lol). I started doing this because I had a difficult time locating the same information myself, so I decided I'd share my findings for anyone else who's also interested.

With 264 cards before Secret Rares, it seems that this may be the largest Pokémon TCGset of all time. Before this set, Sun & Moon – Cosmic Eclipsehad 236 cards before Secret Rares and 271 in total. This will easily top that. It’s always nice when one of the Original 151 (aside from Pikachu and Charizard) really gets to shine on a Pokémon card. Gengar gets his big moment with this cleverly-designed card that is compelling enough to make the ghost Pokémon the Fusion Strike set’s biggest hit. Giratina V (Alternate Full Art) The most valuable Gengar Pokemon cards fetch a high price among collectors thanks to its inclusion in some of the oldest TCG expansions and its place as one of the original 151 Pokemon introduced in the Red & Blue games.
