About this deal

Any help, direction or more in depth help and advice before I start the job in hand would be so massively appreciated trust me. We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen. Select a washer to spread the load over the interior of the fixing recess and, if necessary, drill out this washer to the hole size required and file down the sides to get a good fit in the recess. You will probably use the largest size wood screw for refixing, as you need hidden access to the rear of the panel for putting nuts on bolts. So I've stripped off (most) of the offending interior ply panelling to the front of the cvan, to reveal a good portion of the extent of the damp problems in both front of cvan corners. The dimensions of this suction grab bar are 300 mm in length (12 inches), and the maximum user weight limit here is 95 kg (15 stone).

Now having really stripped out all the offending interior plywood walls around the front end, I can confirm there is NO 'Non Setting Bedding Mastic/Sealant' the tape kind one can get on a roll. This has totally gutted me, as my Grandad suffers advanced Alzheimers Disease and doesn't get to see his great grandson as often as they'd like to, due to my living in South East Wales now. The timing of this new found damp issue couldn't have been worse. I wouldn't recommend using normal silicone sealant for sealinganywhere on the outside of the caravan . http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/sealants.htm However, as stated above, be cautious about drilling into the bodywork. Not only for invalidating your water ingress warranty but also for making a mistake and drilling holes in the wrong places.Quote: Lift and clean around the window rubbers outside ( use white spirit then meths to clean ) , apply a bead of sealant under the window rubbers . Keep the receipt of works as evidence should you need to make a damp claim under warranty in the future.

Also, is there anything I should/could be brushing on to either side of the new ply, to give it some added protection? The nightmare started this afternoon when finding some interior front corner sealant looking a little mouldy and instantly knew it wouldn't be good. Before fixing in place, give your handles a good clean with T-Cut, to remove discolouration from age and use. There are awning rails going along both sides of the caravan , that you can seal ( a proper reseal of the awning rails would require removing them , but this can be a lengthy job .You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways: Bit late now but I think I would have waited until there were a few hot summer days to dry it out a bit, filled any gaps in the outside with Sikaflex & got another 3yrs out of it. If you start dismantling an old caravan from the inside you just open cans of worms. I had thought myself yesterday the only way maybe to sort the underside of front end - where the aluminium outer skin is fixed to the underneath (where as you see in the pics it isn't any more) would be to use aluminium angle corner the whole length in one piece along the front underside. Then drill new holes in to this, then fix this with nuts and bolts as opposed to screws.

I eventually realised that a car ceiling grab handle would be ideal – compact, comfortable, folding, neutral grey in colour and blending in well with the rest of the caravan décor. Quote: Awning rails , clean around the awning rail to body joint ( gap ) , add a bead of sealant to gap ( this is to protect from water ingress over the very short term , and you should maybe consider a awning rail reseal in the future ). I know everybody goes on about Silkaflex but I just can't justify the expense to the Mrs. when there's going to be a hell of a lot of tubes required from start to finish. If you want to get out of the caravan (which I can understand) it may just be worth asking your dealer for his best deal on another make, given the disappointment with your current van, To keep quoting the SOGA to try to achieve a replacement, even with a reduced value of your current van isn't going to work. Speak to Trading Standards and then you have to put up to take into court. The SOGA needs to be determined by a court that it has been breached, you cant just print a copy of it and throw it on your dealers desk.

Padded Grab Bar

Thanks once again for reading my problem and I hope you can decipher the above, it's hard to put it down in the correct manner on a screen when so in depth. I also understand your worries of your ply floor not being replaced with the risk of health with spores and the ply slowly degrading, I think there will be quite a few of us with the same concerns. If this does happen I know exactly what I will do when and if the time comes. Believe me I’m not happy at all with this water ingress problem.
