About this deal

This review aims to answer that question, as well as looking at the price, design, performance and features of the Huawei AI Cube. So read on to find out if this is the 4G router, speaker and smart home controller for you. Design B32 is a supplementary downlink (SDL) band and must always be aggregated with another band that can provide uplink connectivity - from what I've seen usually this is achieved on router devices by using B20, as with your B900. The Huawei AI Cube is a seriously impressive device, managing to both match most smart speakers and better most home broadband devices. The app is split between three main sections: Device, Tools and Smart speaker. Device is the default screen you’ll face each time you boot up the app, and it shows you how much of your data plan you’ve used and which devices are connected.

Getting connected to the web through the Huawei AI Cube is very simple. Just insert the SIM into the slot on the bottom of the speaker, plug it into the mains, then connect your device to the speaker via the Wi-Fi details supplied on the underside. As you have found with your iPad, you're getting the same speeds with a CAT4 device (a CAT4 cannot aggregate any bands) as you are with your B900, suggesting that both are connected to a single 4G band (probably B3). Below these lights you’ll find the power and WPS connection buttons, which should be self-explanatory. That makes it slightly more expensive than most other mobile broadband devices from Three, such as theHuawei HomeFiand Huawei B535 WebBox, but then the Huawei AI Cube can do more due to the Alexa smart speaker (though again, isn’t quite as good at the broadband part as the B535 WebBox). Tools gives you a number of mini applications, such as the aforementioned Best Position signal-chasing feature. You’ll also find an SMS app tied to the SIM card used within the AI Cube, and a Guest Wi-Fi feature that lets you set up a strictly limited sub-network for guests.Huawei said the Europe version would be available around the end of 2018, but not mention about the availability for US market. Regarding the Huawei B900 AI Cube price, Huawei didn’t give any information. We have to wait for the news from Huawei. There are three core features to the Huawei AI Cube: its Alexa assistant function, its capabilities as a speaker, and that curveball inclusion of a 4G router. The Huawei AI Cube can also theoretically manage upload speeds of 50Mbps over 4G. Again, actual speeds are likely to be lower, but still higher than most of the competition. Having said that, the Huawei B535 WebBox does beat it here, with upload speeds of up to 100Mbps. In the flesh, it is loud, making plenty of noise in a busy room. While loud is good, there was depth and roundness to the sound too, though without testing the audio quality alongside its key competitors or in a controlled environment we couldn’t give a definitive verdict based on our early impressions.

The Huawei B900 AI Cube looks a little bit similar to its predecessor Huawei B528 but there is the obvious difference. On the top, there are three keys available: one volume up key, one volume down key, and one mute key. On the body, there are three LED indicators for Signal, WiFi and LAN. However, unlike the latest Huawei B618s-22d WiFi router, there is no connector for the external antenna in the B900 AI Cube. The R219 isn't really suitable for home working setup that out of preference uses wired connections to get best quality connections for web conferencing and the like - especially if you need to lead some sessions. In my area I find it drops out often, and data throughput is inconsistent. Also, if you have a smarthome setup, a max of 10 connections on a hotspot really won't do, and I've tried lots of configurations to try to keep that going. I was looking for affordable ways to tide me over until fibre restored, and on the face of it, similar technology from Huawei looked favourable, with an Ethernet connection. The web interface is well laid out and complements the Hilink App. There are a few more useful features like the ability to manually configure a DNS server, send group SMS, setup VPNs, NAT, Mac filtering and more. Final verdict

Maximum size for each attachment is 10MB (rar,jpg,zip,pdf,war,txt,docx,doc,png,mp3,mp4,xls,xlsx,gif,jpeg are supported). WLAN: WiFi 802.111a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band(2.4GHz & 5GHz), 2 x 2 MIMO, 2 x 2 DBDC(Dual-band, dual-carrier) With Alexa built-in plus four far-field microphones, so it can hear you clearly, you can use your voice to turn smart lights on and off, adjust smart thermostats and control other smart home devices. You can also ask for weather and travel information, ask Alexa to play music and ask it to look up information.

CA Bands: CA_3C/CA_7C/CA_38C/CA_1A-8A/CA_1A-20A/CA_3A-7A/CA_3A-8A/CA_3A-20A/CA_7A-8A/CA_7A-20A/CA_20A-32A/ In the flesh, it is loud, making plenty of noise in a busy room. While loud is good, there was depth and roundness to the sound too, though without testing the audio quality alongside its key competitors or in a controlled environment. Fibre Broadband is a one of the main alternatives, delivering potentially higher speeds and lower latency, but this requires a landline and setup by an engineer, whereas with the Huawei AI Cube you can get set up instantly, don't need a landline and can take the device anywhere with a network signal and mains supply.

At the very bottom of the Huawei AI Cube’s rear side you’ll discover two ports - one for the power lead, and another for the ethernet connection we referenced above. The latter is a fairly unusual inclusion for a smart speaker, if not for a 4G router. The 4G mast that I connect to is situated in the next door property to my house, exactly 28 metres away from the router with a direct line of sight, hence my disappointment at the speeds that I have been getting. It’s a great addition to any home where Wi-Fi connectivity proves problematic and 4G performance is strong. It could also become a useful travel companion if your premises don’t always tend to have reliable Wi-Fi. Don’t be in any doubt: it’s the 4G router element that you’re spending the money on here. If sound quality is a clear priority, we’d recommend that you look elsewhere. Software photos maximum, each photo's size should be less than 10MB (bmp, jpg, png, gif, and jpeg are supported)
