About this deal

For the versatile traveler that is known to beat up their gear through the normal wear and tear of everyday life. I definitely recommend the Osprey Ozone Duplex for you. Between the front and main compartments is the so-called “slash” compartment, whose interior is treated with material that prevents scratches for things like sunglasses, a smart phone, or even a tablet. I mean, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend taking this on a multi-day hiking trip when you know you’ll be carrying it the entire time, but I’ve also had no problems when I’ve had to carry it. My Ozone was quite a bit cheaper than the Meridian when I bought it, which was an extra bonus. The only thing really that I like more about the Meridian version is that it comes in blue.

The less your bag weighs, the more stuff you can put inside it while staying under the weight limit. So regardless of which suitcase size you choose, try to find something that’s not more than 5 pounds, if possible. Moreover, they included a padded hip belt to help with the weight transfer to the hips and legs. My wife comfortably wearing the Osprey Ozone 46 on a day hike that involved some undulations and some rough scrambling While the Osprey Ozone weighs 6.93 pounds (3.14 kg), the Osprey Soujourn weighs 8.97 pounds (4.07 kg), which is quite a bit more. And again, the Soujourn’s shoulder and waist straps detach, while the Ozone’s do not (but like I said before, I actually like that they aren’t detachable). This is my one con against this bag. Other than that, I traveled with Osprey for almost nine years full time and it never happened before. I think I just came across a really mean baggage handler! And I think I was right. My Osprey Ozone is already incredibly durable – I would actually be really surprised if it ripped or the wheels damaged anytime soon.

There are various features that I personally need in a suitcase. Now, keep in mind that what works for me, or your best friend, or your neighbor, may not work for you. The Ozone 46L is 9 x 14 x 22 inches and will fit as a carryon on the majority of airlines. It even worked for the budget airline AirAsia. To be honest, I’m not sure if it fits in Ryanair, which has stricter limitations. (There is also a smaller Ozone in size 42L which should work for Europe’s budget airlines.) And I actually prefer my luggage not to have a bunch of compartments. This is the perfect amount as I find internal compartments to be restricting. Without them I get to design how I use the space in my own suitcase. Propelling it along pavements is a joy thanks to its ergonomic T-shaped handle and smooth wheels. Cobblestone streets? Not a problem. There’s loads of space in this bag. As I mentioned before, I used this for traveling every single day, 24 hours a day, for months at a time. So I know you guys don’t need a bigger suitcase than this!

My unbiased Osprey Ozone Convertible 28″/75L wheeled backpack review

The more features a bag has–the more bells and whistles–the heavier that it’s going to be. The great thing about this one is that it has a ton of features that I love and that met my needs, but it doesn’t have the weight that is going to destroy my ability to meet the carryon weight restriction. We’ve gone through repurposing Camelbaks, business travel bags, duffle bags, etc. to try to pull off this dual purpose, but none have done it quite like the oldie-but-goodie version of the Ozone 46. To sum it up, make sure that your suitcase, no matter the price, has awesome wheels. For me, that’s the number one thing I look for in a bag for long-term travel. In this Osprey Ozone 46 review I’ll walk through all the features and will show you the pros and cons and what I’ve put this suitcase through. Instead, the Ozone line has gravitated towards more commuter-type applications by attaching a wheel and handle and moving away from the day hiking functionality aspect of it.

And this is terrible for adventurer travelers like myself who still don’t want to compromise on hiking capabilities as well as camera-carrying (photography) capabilities. Final Thoughts / Conclusion I’m going to show you exactly how to look for the features you truly need in a suitcase and I’m going to explain why I absolutely love this bag. This is my exclusive Osprey Ozone 46 review. Here’s why this bag is awesome and why it works for my long-term travels. You’ll find my Osprey Ozone 46 review below and you can also watch the video here.Over the course of 4 years of use, I’ve taken it traveling while fitting my DSLR holster bag and laptop case together quite handily. Looking right into the front zippered compartment of the Osprey Ozone 46 Large grippywheels are secured in a lightweight ABS plastic high clearance base with integrated foot bar/grab handle and will keep running smoothly thanks to the high traction rubberandsealed bearings. I first used it on a group tourof Sri Lankain 2016 and it has been a frequent travelling companion ever since. Its generous capacitymakes it the perfect choice for longer trips. As a long-term traveler, my suitcase was basically my home; everything I own was in there! So if anything went wrong with my suitcase, it was a big deal. It can’t fall apart. One of my favorite features about this bag is the wheels. If you’re going on an adventurous trip, you want indestructible wheels that can go over anything and everything.

Are there any other features you’d want me to discuss in this Osprey Ozone 46 review? Share in the comments! I’m brutal with my bag and my gear, because I want to make sure–when I recommend a product to my readership at Travel Fashion Girl–that I can wholeheartedly say this is a great product. So you’ll actually see the damage that I have done to this bag over the years in these photos. When I ran an Osprey Ozone and Meridian comparison, the main two differences were weight and whether or not the shoulder and hip straps were detachable. Wheels always seem to be such an issue with luggage – I’ve seen so many people struggle with flimsy or broken wheels, or just wheels that don’t wheel smoothly – so I love that the wheels on this are so durable and well-built. It might not be a huge consideration when looking at wheeled luggage, but it actually can make a huge difference! For some reason, I’ve never actually spoken about one of my favorite travel items. It’s something that’s super important to me and I know that it’s important to you, too. Not sure what it is yet? It’s your luggage! This one is extremely lightweight and sturdy, which means I’m going to get the best feature without a lot of weight. The main difference between the Osprey Ozone vs the Soujourn is the size. The Soujourn is 80 liters instead of the Ozone’s 75 liters. The Soujourn also has some extra hooks for clipping things on the bag, as well as a detachable ventilated suspension system that is more advanced than the Ozone’s suspension system. Disclaimer: I am NOT sponsored by Osprey and don’t work with this company whatsoever. I genuinely love their gear and want to tell you all about them. The one thing that stayed the same throughout the 9 years is the particular brand of suitcases that I’ve used, and that brand is Osprey. This is my absolute favorite brand for long-term travel.
