About this deal

Both Chaos Knights and Chaos Warriors are battleline for this army. In conclusion this is a good set, a great replacement of the previous one and an excellent starting point for a Slaves to Darkness army. Even buying the second box would not be a sin. to try and make charging as difficult as possible for the remaining Vindictors, the Shaman and Pot-grot shuffled to the far side of the Bastion. With nothing left to do, the turn passed to the Stormcast Eternals, who moved their full 5″ onto the top of the Bastion and prepared to charge. If you are just starting an Age of Sigmar army, or you want to expand your existing collection you may have considered buying a chunk of miniatures at a discounted price. Games Workshop comes at the rescue with Start Collecting sets, that are a group of miniatures belonging to an army combined together at a discounted price. It’s a good little book. There’s minimal fluff contained within: it gives you the rules and little else. Of course, there are still some pictures of studio-quality models inside to break up the paragraphs of instructive text and inspire you to start slinging paint at your figures, but the book focuses on the core rules – and only the core rules. Rules Reference Sheets

Before we expand your army, let’s talk about what your goals are. Do you… …Want to play competitively? With the preview done, it’s time to move on to the FauxHammer.com unboxing to get a good look at what this box is really like. As we all well know, these figures don’t arrive looking as beautiful as they do in all of GW’s preview pictures. It’s up to us to make that happen. An incredibly detailed pair of models. but there are no customisation options available here. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Harbinger Starter Set – Sprue G – Praetors Inc.:the number of models that do not make a complete unit (with the latest pitched battle profiles as reference). The Harbinger set is a difficult one to rate, I find. At the start of this review I outlined that I wasn’t one-hundred percent sure just who, exactly, this set is for. It feels a bit too big and expensive to be aimed at true beginners, so we have to look further afield for its market. So, as before, here are the contents of the box more-or-less as listed on Games Workshop’s webstore: While the Stormcast Eternals are the “face” of Age of Sigmar, they are few in number. The mortals they were made to protect live in massive fortress cities; bastions of hope, strength, and civilization standing amongst the wilds of the Mortal Realms. These are the Cities of Sigmar. Inside each of these metropolises lies a Stormkeep in which their Stormcast Eternal protectors live, but on the streets are common people – Humans, Aelves, and Duardin, who live their day to day lives. These are the folks who put “mortal” in “Mortal Realms”, and this army represents the collective military might of those relatively ordinary people. Army Strengths

Decide on a color scheme that’s flexible and will work across the range(s). Nailing this is important for any army, but with a range so diverse, you will want to make sure your chosen scheme looks good on everybody, or is mutable enough that you can tie them together with spot colors. Quartered red and white might look great on your Freeguild Handgunners, but kind of silly on your Sisters of the Thorn. However, if they’re all in earthy tones with red armor, white fur on their mounts, and similar basing, they will look unified together.Again, needing a value of 8, the odds were against them, and with a roll of 7 they could not charge. As I’ve mentioned already, there’s a great deal of similarity between the Harbinger Set and the Extremis Set, give or take the inclusion of certain pieces of scenery. You’ll still find the same books, cards, and other paper-based bits and pieces you’ll need to take your figures from your painting table and onto the battlefield, and whilst the included figures are different and more plentiful than those in the Warrior Set, they are identical to those in the Extremis box. The Fyreslayers Vanguard box replaces the pre-existing Start Collecting set with the big loss of the Magmadroth, now available separately. The value of this new box is arguable, but as it’s the only place where to start a Fyreslayers army with a discount, therefore still maintaining some value. The mortals have Kairic Acolytes, improved since the 2nd edition, and the Tzaangors, now hitting harder. Scions of the Storm lets you place units in reserve and bring them on to the table at the end of any of your movement phases (so Turn 1).

Set the units on the field up in cover and play to go second, your ideal start would see your opponent look to engage you and let you choose a unit to drop the Annihilators near and destroy. The Lord Castellan is there to give the Annihilators a +1 save just in case. You then have the 2nd Vindictors to drop in another round, they can’t reroll but they can still start just outside 7” from an enemy. Don’t drop them too early though – the value of the Annihilators and Vindictors increases the longer the game goes.I am going to run you through a few options to get started in the faction and give you a solid base for a competitive army. SCE start collecting boxes are out of print now, they were the SCE half of the starter kits in 1st and then 2nd edition. But they are one half of the current AoS Starter sets and we will be looking at a list built from the Extremis or Harbinger Starter Sets. These lists are intended to be competitive but might not quite reach the top table. I won’t be featuring Vanguard Raptors, Fulminators or Storm Drakes. Or not yet (read to the end). The Holy Sacrosanct Chamber – This is a chamber of holy crusader warriors dedicated to killing anything that’s chaos or giving Nagash’s ghostly boys their daily wedgies. They are also the most elite and most magic-heavy of the Stormcasts. They have better overall stats and utility in exchange for costing a lot more in points. If you want some really awesome front line troops that will hold the line till the end of days, the Sacrosanct Sequitors are the unit for you. If you want to start your collection with these, we recommend starting with the Soul Wars two-player boxed set, and splitting it with a friend who can take the Nighthaunts. It’s more expensive than a standard Start Collecting but well worth it since the box gets a Lord on a big bird mount, 10 Sequitors, a Ballista crew, a Knight Incantor, 5 Castigators (their ranged foot unit), and 3 Evocators (these are very strong but since they come in minimum units of 5 models, this box leaves you needing to find two more). There’s also a smaller version of this box called Tempest of Souls which is the same as soul wars but cheaper and with fewer models (still a two-player box, though), and isn’t a particularly good box for starting a Stormcast Eternal army. The Pusgoyle set allows to build alternatively a single Lord of Afflictions, since the sprue is for 2 models you would normally be left with a spare Pusgoyle, but since AoS 3.0, there’s now a point cost for single model-units (cannot be reinforced, while the 2 models version could be). These sprues are separated from your paper goods below by a divider. Once side is printed with the Age of Sigmar logo, the other with the iconic Vindictor-Prime versus Killaboss artwork. Thanks, Garfy! One of the best things about writing your own fan fiction is that you can use the existing setting as a springboard for your own imagination, which is exactly what Garfy has done to great effect. Remember, it’s YOUR hobby! If you’re interested in painting up some of your own Primal Kings, Garfy has also provided some stage-by-stage guidance to help you match his colour scheme. Undercoat

A table size of 44” by 60” is recommended for armies ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 points. The Stormcasts’ larger base size and ability to spread out and control board space on the new size of battlefield is very much a boon. It contains some really good options to any Nurgle army despite mixing mortals with demons. Plaguebearers are a solid option both as summons and as battleline, Spoilpox Scrivener is always a valid hero and the Pusgoyles represent now the fastest Nurgle unit. Another key aspect of the Stormcast Eternals is their selection of mighty Heroes capable of inspiring nearby units with powerful buffing abilities – and they’re no slouches in combat either. The Lord Castellant is an unmounted lords who can buff nearby units with his lantern, improving their armor and healing them. He combos well with units that have multi-wound models. The eel-riding unit can be assembled as a more defensive Ishlaen Guard or a more offensive Morrsarr Guard. Whichever you choose they are both valid choices.Even after playing through all the Warrior Starter Set Battleplans, I enjoyed trying them out again with the Harbinger version. In battle, the Stormcast Eternals have always been a versatile army, and the addition of new units over time has allowed them to cater to an even wider variety of play styles. Their infantry troops are stoic and hard to shift, their heavy hitters ride fanged Dracoths and mighty Stardrakes, and Sigmar grants their Wizards the power to call down meteors. What’s more, they’re a joy to collect, and they look fantastic on the table. As I said at the start of this review, the Harbinger set occupies an odd space between the obviously beginner-oriented Warrior set and the pricier Extremis set. Whilst the Harbinger set is probably too expensive to appeal to a lot of completely new players, it’d be a good booster for any budding armies or beginner generals who started the hobby at the end of AoS 2.0.
