A sublimation printer cannot easily print directly onto vinyl. In most cases, your design will come out with perfect lines and vivid colors when you print it onto a sublimation transfer sheet first and then use heat to transfer the ink to the vinyl. There are various protective coatings and sealants available in the market, each offering different levels of protection and finish. Some coatings are specifically designed for sublimated vinyl, while others may be more general-purpose. It is important to choose a coating that is compatible with your sublimated vinyl and follow the application instructions provided by the manufacturer. Printing on apparel opens up vast opportunities for customization. Almost every design or cute message you’ve admired on a t-shirt or onesie is a product of decorative printing.In short, sublimation is a chemical process in which a solid transforms into a gas without entering the liquid stage. Keep in mind that it is the dye that changes state throughout this process, nothing else; hence why it’s often called “dye-sublimation.” Gently agitate the water to create suds. Avoid using any abrasive materials or brushes that could scratch or damage the vinyl.
Sublimation involves heating sublimation dye until it reaches a gaseous state, where it’s then infused into a polymer-coated surface. Sublimation dye is translucent, so while it’s super vibrant, it doesn’t show up very well on fabric other than light-colored garments made of mostly polyester.And once you are setup to do sublimation, it’s an overall simpler process with longer lasting results.
