At the end of the 1960s, the Warden, Maurice Bowra, President of the British Academy and one of the first co-founders of the British Institute of Persian Studies (BIPS), welcomed a donation to construct the building of the New Library in Wadham, where the emphasis would be given to Persian Studies and the post in Persian. Since then a special connection between Wadham and Iran has been established. Keys must be returned or students may be deemed to be still in residence and will be charged at the current conference rate. Students may apply to stay up during vacations, but, since accommodation is usually limited due to conference bookings which subsidise it, priority is given to students from overseas, finalists, and those for whom vacation residence is recommended for academic reasons. Following your last night of Vacation Residence, please vacate and clear your room by 10am. Graduate Centre users are responsible for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety, to co-operate with staff on health and safety matters and not to interfere with anything provided to safeguard their health and safety. If users have any concerns about health and safety in the Graduate Centre, please report them to the Lodge. The Wadham Handbook is updated every summer and all students then become bound by the updated version. Typical changes might be including a new harassment policy or procedure, or updating information on student welfare provision. College rent and food charges are also revised in an agreed process involving current students, and all students then pay the updated charges.Sir Christopher Wren was an undergraduate at Wadham before he became a fellow of All Souls and then succeeded Rooke as astronomy professor at Gresham College, London. He eventually returned to occupy rooms at Wadham while he was the Savilian Professor of Astronomy from 1661. Wren had notable achievements in pure and applied mathematics, astronomy, physics and biology to his credit before he turned to architecture, in his thirties. [12] In mathematical ability alone, Wren was ranked by competent authorities second only to Newton among the men of his time. [13] Matriculation is the ceremony that marks a student's formal admission to the University; this year's ceremony is scheduled for Saturday 14th October and attendance is compulsory for all new students. Further details will be communicated to you during freshers' week. All undergraduates may be required to sit collections in the week before term. These examinations normally take place on the Friday and Saturday of that week and are usually set on the work covered during the previous term and/or vacation. Collections may be set at any other time if required as part of academic monitoring, or conditions for return from suspension. A conscientious commitment to academic work is expected throughout a student’s time here and is a condition of continued membership of the College.

The Finance Bursar assisted by the College Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial affairs of the College including the calculation and collection of fees.
