About this deal

But the point of this process isn’t to enhance a barrel that’s already shooting well, it’s to try to rescue one that’s not shooting properly when all other methods have failed, and in cases like this it might just be worth giving bore paste a go. You can tell how dirty the barrel has become by looking at the accumulated lead that’s been removed from the lands and grooves of the barrel As an air rifle owner, you know that accuracy and consistency are key to a great shooting experience. But did you know that every time you fire your air rifle, lead deposits on the rifling lands? Over time, this can cause your accuracy to suffer - not to mention the risk of corrosion. A brush can be attached to the rod to agitate deposits in the bore. Traditionalbristles are made of phosphor bronze, an alloy of copper, but many shooters prefer to use brushes with nylon bristles, which are less likely to cause any damage. A: No, you should not use WD-40 to clean your air rifle. While WD-40 is great for cleaning other things, it’s not designed for cleaning firearms and can actually damage the seals on your air rifle. Q: How do I clean my air rifle scope? Also remember to insert a regular pellet behind the felt pellet if you are using them in a springer, as the piston needs the protective cushion of air that a felt pellet alone can’t provide. Soak a few cleaning pellets with a drop of Napier Power Pellet Lube, but finish off with some dry ones to help the bore lead-up more easily Many shooters will tell you that they never clean the barrels of their airguns – and that goes for a lot of rimfire shooters too. As a lead projectile is fired down the bore, be it a pellet, slug or bullet, it will deposit a thin layer of lead over the lands and grooves of the rifling. Napier Pull Through Air Rifle Cleaning Kit | Wolfman

The easiest way to insert a pull-through is directly into the barrel – this BSA Ultra XL makes the job easy The BoreSnake, developed by US firm Hoppe’s, is similar to the traditional pull-through, but instead of using disposable patches, it’s the body of the snake itself that carries out the cleaning. Many people will get through their entire shooting career without using bore paste, while for others it’s become an indispensable tool. Bore paste contains abrasive particles, and its main role is to condition the bore of Some guns, like the Zbroia Kozak, feature a shroud that does not offer direct access to the barrel itself. Most shrouds extend beyond the actual length of the barrel. Trying to feed the pull-through down the shroud and in through the muzzle will usually result in the loop that holds the cleaning patches just folding up on itself. Repeatedly plugging away, hoping the pull-through will eventually find the bore, isn’t a great idea either. Many pull-throughs feature a coated brass shank, which shouldn’t be stabbed against the crown as it could potentially do some damage. Instead, use a drinking straw to present the pull-through centrally to the bore. Just make sure the straw is long enough so it doesn’t slide inside the shroud, never to be heard of again. Don’t ask how I know this. I decided to put my money where my mouth is and try it in a number of my own air rifles, but using a pull-through rather than a rod. When using any type of liquid near the breech of an airgun, less is definitely more, and I was careful to use a minimal amount with each pass of the patch.Air Rifle Repair Centre – We have experienced members of staff that have been repairing and servicing airguns for many years. Once the pull-through loop is in place, consult your instruction manual to determine how many patches you'll need for your calibre. Attach the patches to the loop and pull through the air rifle, examining the patches for fouling. Repeat until they come out clean. Use just the right amount of compound or solvent – you don’t want it seeping into internal areas such as the transfer port Did these guns shoot any better afterwards? To be perfectly honest, no, not really, but then they were shooting well to start with. In one case I actually thought I had done more harm than good as it took an incredible 62 shots to re-lead the barrel and get it shooting well again. That’s it: job done. You’ve now carried out a deep clean of your bore without using any nasty jags or brushes that could cause damage. These are great for powder-burners, but are not recommended for airguns. All that’s left to do now is re-lead your barrel by firing some pellets down the tube. Accuracy may be woeful at this stage, but as the barrel starts to regain its optimal level of leading – and this can take anywhere from 10 to 50 shots – your rifle will start shooting far straighter than it did before!
