About this deal

Author and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson gives us a glimpse into the wonderful world of Amelia Fang, her latest literary creation. Amelia lives with her parents Count Drake and Countess Frivoleeta, and her pet pumpkin Squashy, in Nocturnia - a city in the Kingdom of the Dark, where glitter is terrifying and unicorns and sparkly fairies are the stuff of day-mares. Amelia Fang will be produced by DCM Pictures (Bibi & Tina) with animation led by Boulder Media in Dublin and directed by Robert Cullen (Gumball, Danger Mouse and My Little Pony). The writing team is led by Elly Brewer (Shaun The Sheep, Postman Pat, Thunderbirds, The Story Of Tracy Beaker ). Cake will handle all international distribution. Nocturnia, where Amelia lives, is a weird and wonderful place. It’s a city within the Kingdom of the Dark. Beyond the city itself, there are Scary Suburbs and other creepy towns and villages. I loved coming up with names for different areas in Nocturnia; from the post-bat depot to the zombie yoga hall!

She can slip through the green door with the mouldy handle, and voila! She’s at the river! I wish I knew of a few real shortcut-doors in my life… A door that could lead me straight to my favourite coffee shop would be grand. Welcome to the world of Nocturnia, where darkness reigns supreme, glitter is terrifying, and unicorns are the stuff of nightmares! Amelia Fang would much rather hang out with her pet pumpkin Squashy and her friends Florence the yeti (DON'T CALL HER BEAST!) and Grimaldi the reaper than dance at her parents' annual Barbaric Ball. Another Amelia Fang adventure! Read about everyone’s favorite vampire before she makes her way on the TV screen! Welcome to the world of Nocturnia, where darkness reigns supreme, glitter is terrifying, and unicorns are the stuff of nightmares! Amelia Fan... Another vampire myth I’ve distorted is the idea that they can’t be exposed to sunlight – NOT in my book! In the Kingdom of the Dark the creatures, including vampires, just don’t like the sunlight because they’re usually asleep during the daytime. They’re a bit scared of it; like you or I may be a bit scared of the dark. (Actually, I really AM scared of the dark!)

Get ready to sink your teeth into the fourth book of the spook-tacular series, Amelia Fang and the Half-Moon Holiday.

We love the charming and funny illustrations, ghoulish puns and jokes and the wonderfully inventive magical creatures from mischievous caticorns to unicorn lords and terrifying angel-kittens. And the gripping adventures will help keep your attention too! Then the King’s spoiled son Tangine captures Squashy, Amelia and her friends must escape the party to plan a daring rescue! March 2018 Book of the Month | In a nutshell: gothic fun and games with gorgeous cast of characters But not long after arriving, the precious glittery treasures of the ancient yetis start to go missing. And when Tangine goes missing too he becomes the prime suspect! Not only that but the tunnels of Yeti Mountain have started to collapse on themselves and it looks like Florence and her family will have to move far away. It's looking like the gang might never see each other again!

One of the things I’ve loved most about writing Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball has been creating the world that Amelia and her friends live in. It’s such fun to let my imagination run wild and to create a gothic setting for their adventures. Amelia Fang and her friends love their dark and gloomy world of Nocturnia. But when Tangine’s mom, Queen Fairyweather, goes missing, they must brave the journey to the terrifying Kingdom of the Light. But with unicorns, fairies and angel-kittens lurking around every corner, who can they trust? And will they finally uncover the real villain keeping the kingdoms of Light and Dark as mortal enemies?

This year’s World Book Day is on 7 March and if you’re feeling stumped for costume ideas, look no further! We’ve put together a few suggestions inspired by some of our favourite Farshore characters. Kids’ entertainment specialist Cake is partnering with DCM Pictures and Boulder Media on 2D adventure comedy series Amelia Fang, aimed at 6-9 year olds.Amelia’s family home was another place where I let my imagination run riot. The Fang Mansion has many floors with many doors. But the room behind each door can change when you least expect it. One door may lead you to another floor in the house or even somewhere outside! Amelia has a handy shortcut to the edge of the River Styx, which is where her best friend Grimaldi lives. Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments The creatures in my world include vampires, yetis, werewolves, ghosts, skeletons, the odd cyclops and many more. Here are some of them enjoying a dance at the Barbaric Ball. Amelia Fang is the biggest hearted vampiress you'll ever meet. In this adventure, she and her friends Florence the yeti (DON'T CALL HER BEAST), Grimaldi the Death and Prince Tangine (reformed spoiled sprout), along with her pet pumpkin Squash... Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball was Waterstones Book of the Month in October 2017. Amelia Fang would rather hang out with her pet pumpkin Squashy and her friends Florence the yeti (DON’T CALL HER BEAST!) and Grimaldi the reaper than dance at her parents’ annual Barbaric Ball. When the King’s spoiled son Tangine captures Squashy, Amelia and her friends must escape the party to plan a daring rescue! But they begin to realise things in Nocturnia may not be quite what they seem.
