About this deal

If you want to get naturally occurring biotin, incorporate the following foods into your daily diet: Using biotin oil, or any other oil, tends to work best for people who have dry scalps and brittle hair. Those with oily hair can still use biotin oil on it, but it will only increase this problem.

Aldahmash BA, et al. (2015). Biotin ameliorationof nephrotoxicity in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. DOI:Biotin is a B-complex vitamin that helps your body break down food into energy. You can get biotin from eating meats, eggs, fish, seeds, nuts, and some vegetables, or by taking a daily supplement. Though supplementing with biotin may not be necessary for a majority of the population, it’s relatively safe, and toxic levels have not been established.

As some of the biotin will get into your bloodstream, this can interfere with blood tests. Laboratory tests that measure certain hormones in your blood can give false results when there is extra biotin there. However, low water solubility does not necessarily mean high fat solubility. A standard measure of lipophilicity is octanol/water partition coefficient (or its decadic logarithm, log P). Positive means more soluble in octanol (fats), negative means more soluble in water. The current recommended daily adequate intake for biotin is 30 mcg, as established by the Institute of Medicine ( 2). For more information about building a healthy dietary pattern, refer to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the USDA's MyPlate.A limited number of reliable indicators of biotin status is available [ 7]. In healthy adults, the concentration of biotin is 133–329 pmol/L in serum and 18–127 nmol/24 hours in urine [ 2]. Abnormally low urinary excretion of biotin is an indicator of biotin deficiency, as is abnormally high excretion of 3-hydroxyisovaleric acid (higher than 3.3 mmol/mol creatinine) or 3-hydroxyisovalerylcarnitine (higher than 0.06 mmol/mol creatinine) resulting from reduced activity of MCC [ 2, 7, 8]. The most reliable individual markers of biotin status, including deficiency and sufficiency, are biotinylated MCC and propionyl-CoA carboxylase in white blood cells [ 7]. Oral administration of large doses of biotin increases serum concentrations of biotin and its metabolites [ 1, 9]. However, serum concentrations of biotin and its catabolites are not good indicators of marginal biotin deficiency because they do not decrease sufficiently in people with marginal biotin deficiency for these changes to be detectable with existing tests [ 3, 10]. Recommended Intakes Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA): Average daily level of intake sufficient to meet the nutrient requirements of nearly all (97%–98%) healthy individuals; often used to plan nutritionally adequate diets for individuals Some doctors say there is absolutely no scientific support for the claim. However, long-term use of biotin may help to stimulate the growth of healthier hair, and many users are pleased with its results. Adequate Intake (AI): Intake at this level is assumed to ensure nutritional adequacy; established when evidence is insufficient to develop an RDA Wheat protein might not be good to put in your hair if you are allergic to it. However, wheat protein is still a type of protein, and it is proteins that make up most of each hair. So, though this ingredient is not for everyone, it is still a good ingredient to have.
