About this deal

Hardware (NVENC) will use your system's Nvidia Video Card and will generally have a smaller impact on computer performance but may result in lower quality. Audio Bitrate But being the only external capture card on the market that can capture 4K60 and HDR footage does allow you to record some genuinely spectacular footage to play with and share. The stand-alone recording is a tempting proposition, yet the 4K60 S+ prices itself out of the competition for most content creators. This function is for essentially turning off the device from OBS Studio or turning it on. This can be helpful if you’re experiencing issues as a way to soft reset the device. More information in #Troubleshooting. Configure Video The Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ is for content creators who want to upgrade their channels in a big way. For starters, it can capture 4K HDR gameplay directly to your PC or SD card. Yep, this is Elgato's first capture card to use stand-alone recording via an SD card, which is a massive plus for console games and a long-awaited feature from veteran Elgato users. While the 4K60 Pro does something similar in terms of what it can capture, the S+'s extra portability is what you should care about. Elgato Game Capture software has a Settings section, which allows users to adjust how the hardware behaves.

We can do this by going into File> Settings. Then go into the Video tab. If the Auto-Configuration Wizard hasn’t yet changed this, you will typically want to set your Base (Canvas) Resolution to 1920x1080. This is the resolution of your Canvas or the work area with you layers and overlays. OBS Studio’s preview represents what the viewer sees. This is called the Canvas and you’re able to move, rotate, scale, crop, and stretch different objects in the scene. This area is also able to be changed live while recording or streaming. You are able to add or remove objects as well as move or scale them while you are recording or streaming and those changes will be in your recorded file or show up for your stream viewers. Transform MoveNow you can enter your desired video delay. The recommended starting point is 200 milliseconds (ms). The big selling point for the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ is you can capture footage in 4K without the need of a PC along with always handy lag-free pass-through. Once you have the capture set up with all the needed cables plugged in, you simply need to insert an SD card into the front of the device, and the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ is prepped for standalone recording.

This is typically used for the Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro or Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro to synchronize audio from the Chat Link adapter connected to another port on your system to the capture device. This is generally not needed to be changed for the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+as it has its own alternative audio input. Even with these slight hiccups in mind, the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ delivers some truly stunning video. The ability to record without the need of another computer can be a game changer for many, especially if you go to events, or want to bring exclusive gameplay capture to your viewers that simply can’t be done with a full recording kit for whatever reason. To truly use this capture card to its full potential, you need a 4K-ready console, 4K monitor with HDR support (not cheap), and a PC beefy enough to edit 4K HDR footage ( really not cheap). Let’s not even get into the amount of bandwidth required to upload 4K video, let alone stream it. Please Note: Tonemapping from HDR to SDR is not supported in standalone mode. HDR will always be captured in HEVC / H.265 format. Speaking of attention to detail, Elgato gave this device a decent amount of weight, too, with highly flexible cables that make it sit still wherever you place it. Lighter connected devices tend to slide all over the place when attached to taught plastic cables, so once again, I find this to be a plus. In the Advanced Audio Settings, find the Sync Offsetcolumn and set the delay to 200ms for the audio source.
