About this deal

Documentaries: Blood and Steel: The Making of Enter the Dragon, The Curse of the Dragon, and Bruce Lee: In His Own Words

Classic martial arts film Enter the Dragon (1973) starring Bruce Lee has been remastered in 4k for release on Ultra HD Blu-ray on Aug. 8, 2023. The single-disc edition from Warner Bros. & Studio Distribution Services includes both the 99-minute Theatrical and 102-minute Special Edition versions on the UHD BD. The theatrical cut is a leaner experience that I think I prefer, but I never had much of a problem with the special edition so I wouldn't be too upset if that's all we got (compared to say The Exorcist or Amadeus where I'd personally hope for the theatrical cut. Amadeus has been rumoured to go to Criterion for years now so if that pans out I'd be quite confident about it being the theatrical cut, if not both cuts). Notable upside to them potentially siding with the theatrical cut could be the greater chance of having the original legacy audio mix included, though it's not always a guarantee with Warner. It would be nice having the Saul Bass logo at the head of the film too. Steelbook threads: Enter the Dragon (1973) 50th Anniversary Collector's Edition (4K UHD/Blu-ray Steelbook) Enter the Dragon is out on 4K Ultra HD + Digital August 8, 2023 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Enter the Dragon is one of the true classics of the martial arts genre, a high-water mark for Lee, who would die just a month before the film’s premiere, and one that holds up well even after the numerous films that came after it expanding the genre. Here, it looks and sounds incredible, with Warner Bros. keeping up their recent superb quality restorations on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Highly recommended.

Secondary Audio: Original Mono English DTS-HD MA 2.0 | French DD 1.0 | German DD 1.0 | Italian DD 1.0 | Spanish (Castilian) DD 1.0 | Mandarin DD 2.0 Mono (Special Edition Only) | Spanish (Latino) DD 2.0 Mono | Czech DD 5.1

Warner Bros. gives Enter the Dragon a lossless Dolby Atmos remix that is surprisingly engaging and encircling. The score from Lalo Schifrin spreads out throughout the soundstage and really drives the soundscape. The fight sequences have good low end and panning while the dialogue comes through clearly. This is one of the better Atmos remixes for a catalogue release from this era I have ever heard. The Supplements

HD Report is a trusted online news publication with experts in entertainment technology, physical & online media, video gaming, and consumer products. It's rare for Warner to adopt seamless branching, and almost equally rare for them to do multi-disc presentations presenting multiple cuts of a film in 4k, so we're almost definitely only getting one version or the other in UHD here.
