V01: was a pretty fun book! I mean, yes it was pretty cliche for the genre but the ML was adorable and the FL was competent and the world was interesting enough so I was filled with good feelings. A digital ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via Edelweiss+ for review. All opinions are unbiased and my own.

Here are the North American anime, manga, and light novel releases for October. Week 1: October 5 - 11 Anime Releases C³ [incl. I have an affinity for the "otome isekai villainess" genre, where the MC h is a contemporary Japanese female, usually teen to young adult, who is whisked away to a usually fantasy type European style world that the protagonist realizes is based off of an otome game that she played when she was in Japan and that she is now the villainess of the game and is trying to avoid the "death flags" so she survives to a ripe old age, rather than to be used as the stepping stone for the "heroine" to have her "happy" ending. If the story didn't want to properly punish that, it shouldn't have included that scene in the first place. Also the antagonists (well technically heroes) I think they're really bland. Cedric is just kinda the ex character. Lilia is the standard good girl anime protagonist, and pretty predictable like YOU know that girl is hiding something hah.I’m pleased with Aileen’s character development as a “villainess.” She really turned out not only to be so lovable but also a competent and intelligent woman. It was no wonder that so many of my favorite scenes throughout the series, but especially in this volume, were of her epically one-upping Lelia, the so-called heroine who turned out to be the real villainess. The more and more the story progressed, the more unstable Lelia became. Soon she was pushing for Aileen’s death and a more reverse harem ending for herself, forsaking all the good Aileen, Claude, and the others had done for the kingdom. I'm not going to lie I think the last chapter kind dragged. I don't really like the sudden we need torepair the demon castle plot, political stuff, economy... wha... idk it's like I'm not really interested in that. I want the romance and the trying to avoid the bad ending plot, but idk why they have to go in this weird direction like it's a light hearted comedy? manga we don't need to do this lol. And this is where this last volume of the series loses some points from a perfect score. The gross trope that we all see too often is to separate the female lead and either make it seem like she’s been assaulted (or go through with the disgusting act). To attempt to ruin her in the eyes of her loved ones, the narrative branches into the ‘Fridging Female Character in Comics’ trope, and I absolutely hate it. But, alas, it is used to trigger the mayhem that follows Claude’s transformation. Despite this stumble, there’s plenty that I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss Volume 3does right. For example, a significant role reversal between Lilia and Aileen in a final showdown speaks wonders to being accountable for your actions and deserving of happier endings.

Out of the Otome Game adaptations we've had so far, I really have to concede the fact that HameFura is the overall better handled show that we have Art-wise, this show isn't the best. I still can't get used to the show's art style. In terms of animation, I'd say it is pretty good, with nothing particularly disappointing to mention. And the OP and ED are perfect for the show. I was already feeling them in the first episode of the show. The VAs should not be overlooked for how well they portray the characters to which they are assigned. There was barely even any magic as it was!) He is a cinnamon roll character and seeing his emotions being "on display" was a hoot! (Even more so when Aileen doesn't realize what they mean. LOL!) Plus, his "right-hand man" is priceless and really liked Keith too! Here are the North American anime, manga, and light novel releases* for November. Watashi wa Akuyaku Reijou nanka ja Nai!!: Yamitsukai dakara tte Kanarazushimo Akuyaku dato Omouna yo AutoRec The characters are not necessarily unique, we've already seen those typologies over and over again, but the author manages to give their own twist and the result is a colorful (even though the main female lead persues and proposes to the demon king in a persistant and amusing manner, has the brains and braves to see through her schemes along with her allies, and actually takes a sword to her gut to protect her demon king. Ya'll, I have re-discovered my college era love of manga and NOW there is something JUST as good or even BETTER out there and it is LIGHT NOVELS, basically manga with only a few GORGEOUS pictures and the story written out as a prose book.

Wow. I mean the demon king does the typical doting and protecting stuff too, but for a couple to do all that for each other and actually be thankful for what others have done for them instead of feeling sorry for themselves at least once in the story is really refreshing. At the banquet to celebrate the end of the academy's winter term, the crown prince and Irene's childhood friend, Cedric Jeanne Elmeier, publicly annuls his engagement with Irene and announces that he is in love with Lilia Rainworth, the game's female protagonist. Aware of the tragic future ahead of her and determined to change it, the young girl resolves to conquer the game's final boss, the "Demon King" and Cedric's half-brother, Claude Jeanne Elmeier, by making him fall in love with her instead. However, it is easier said than done, as Claude distrusts her intentions. Instead of giving up, Aileen adamantly tries to win his heart by helping Claude fulfill his wish: to build peace between humankind and demonic beasts. But time is running out, and it is up to Aileen to change the course of not only her tragic ending but Claude's as well.

A fantastic comedy in which you can't help but admire Aileen, the main heroine, and one who was reborn into the world of an otome game as the villain. Does this sound familiar? The show resembles Hamefura in some ways. Watashi ga Seijo? Iie, Akuyaku Reijou desu!: nanode, Meriba End wa Soshi sasete Itadakimasu AutoRec

But I'm getting ahead of myself here, let's rewind from the start. If you've watched either HameFura or MobuSeka for that matter, AkuLas's story is essentially the same copy-pasted blurb setting of its main female MC being Isekai-ed into the game, with her memories intact of how the game is being played out and navigating thereabouts so that she can reach the outcome of the game's "good end" and avoiding the "bad end". But as the saying goes: "Truth is stranger than fiction", and even if the game turned out to be predictable, there is always that small hole-sized void that'll plunge the female MC into self-perception if there exists an area that wasn't part of the main story (e.g. special spin-off character routes), regardless of how well she can memorize the entire game inside out to play exactly as how it would be panned out. The art is beautiful. Not exactly the height of manga art, but still, cute and serious at times, I liked it. Coming off the energy of the second volume, I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss Volume 3 was my most anticipated manga from Yen Press this month. For such a short series of just three volumes, the creative team has done a great job making readers fall in love with these characters while also providing plenty of laughs. Although we have our usual setting of the isekaied otome player in the role of the villainess, trying to avoid the rad flags and, ultimately, her fate from the game, the turn the story takes is a little bit different, with the MC trying to get the help of the majestic, incredibily handsome, and lonely Demon King. She's witty, smart, and frank; she isn't afraid to state herI also didnt like how once again the ‘heroine’ of the game turned into a two-face biatch. So cliche.
