About this deal
I’m not a mugger. You caught your bag on that broken bumper there. I came over to see if you’re OK.’

Outside, it was a bright but blustery August afternoon and the old man was still making his way slowly across the car park. As Lou paused at the exit, wondering whether to break into the doughnuts now, she saw him brush past a dilapidated van with its crumpled bumper hanging off. She’d noticed the individual meals when he’d lined them up on the conveyor belt in the supermarket, but they’d looked even more heartbreaking strewn around him on the Tarmac out here in the car park.
Promise Me is a feel-good story of friendship featuring a kind woman who finds herself caring for an elderly curmudgeon. I loved it! Publishes: January 19, 2023 by Headline/Headline Audio.
Promise Me by Jill Mansell | Goodreads
Er gebeurt van alles en over het algemeen sluit je de meeste personages ook zonder enige moeite in je hart. Jill Mansell is a writer who reliably produces good quality, feel good and heartwarming stories. Promise Me is no exception. It is unmistakably Jill Mansell at her best. As always though, a story may have the JM stamp upon it, but it still stands tall as a unique, warm, touching, witty and captivating story. I suspect that I simply went into this book expecting way too much and maybe being misled by the synopsis. The last thing Lou wants is to move to a tiny Cotswolds village. She certainly doesn’t intend to work for curmudgeonly eighty-year-old Edgar Allsopp. But Edgar is about to make her the kind of promise nobody could ignore. In return, she secretly vows to help him fall in love with life again. I don’t know. He lives in a big house at the top of the hill. It’s Sammy,’ Lou explained to the man sitting at the table. ‘He’s asking who you are.’ Jill Mansell is a incredibly talented author who has delivered flawless books over and over again and her latest novel Promise Me is no exception. We have the warmth and depth of emotion that we are accustomed to in Jill’s novels but there is also a modern spark to this storyline too.
