About this deal

It’s times like these I wish he’d made use of the ample space in our house to set up his office here – it would save a lot of bother as well as keep business costs down, but he was adamant he needed a place away from the home, somewhere he could separate his work and family life. So, for now, his workplace is in Exeter, about a forty-minute drive away. The plus with having my vet practice just on the outskirts of the village is that I’m there in minutes – no rush-hour traffic to cope with; no road diversions or traffic jams – so I usually take the kids. Because this morning hasn’t begun as planned, the early start is out of the window. Things start to unravel for Jenny, who is concerned that she will become chief suspect and have her past revealed. All-in-all, I would give this read 4 stars. I would recommend it to you if you enjoy dark, psychological thrillers though please do look up the trigger warnings beforehand. The book was a beauty. I just LOVED it. It was written in alternate chapters between Jenny and Mark, so almost felt like a conversation as opposed to a book. Several twists and questions arose throughout leaving me, not ready for the end. I’ll admit, I didn’t see that coming.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my free e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! I feel this book was cleverly done. Especially since the crime was similar to her father’s crimes. Is it a copycat or can someone be trying to get away with murder by using Jen? I cannot believe I have not read this author’s work before now. I love how she keeps you unsure, never knowing where this story is going to go. I could not get enough of this book. The characters are brilliant and you are given enough scenic details to transport you into the character’s world. I raced through this book and loved every second. It was a fabulous read. I cannot wait to dig into The Serial Killer’s Wife….Morning, Jen – thank God. I was beginning to worry.’ Hayley scoots her chair out from the reception desk and stands, reaching over the counter to pass me a piece of paper. ‘These are the early morning animals in for surgery. Nisha has done the preliminaries; Vanessa is organising the operating room and I’ve booked them in.’ Her voice is clipped. If you're looking for a fast-paced, bingeable thriller then look no further.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reader review on The Serial Killer’s Wife

And it’s because our alarms didn’t go off this morning, we’re running late and Daddy has to be in work by nine-thirty.’ I’m thankful Alfie has at least quietly climbed into his own booster seat and has secured his seatbelt without me having to ask or help. ‘Good boy, Alfie,’ I say, shooting Ella a ‘see – your six-year-old brother is better behaved than you’ glare. We are introduced to Jenny, a local vet and member of the community. Only, it becomes evident that Jenny has secrets, even from her husband. Hunter fans will know a little about Jenny from the previous book. Jenny is the daughter of a serial killer. After reading the first in this series, The Serial Killer’s Wife, last year I was eager to see how this story would follow on. Whilst this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone as enough of the previous book information is given to make you understand what happened previously. This is an engaging book that really keeps you guessing with the curves and twists that are thrown in. We go along with Jenny to figure out if it is her or someone trying to frame her. There’s never a dull moment and what you think may not be it at all. At any rate, if you like mystery thrillers, not a bad read. I think this author has potential for more good books.
