Some of the teachers had pet names for their slippers. My English teacher in the fifth year called his "Hotspur". I remember Hotspur well. It was a huge white plimsoll with the canvas round the heel cut away so that the teacher could get a better grip. Hotspur was thoroughly dilapidated and looked ancient enough to have belonged to Shakespeare himself. However, the business end was intact. When I attended secondary school in the early 1970s I was caned by my form mistress when I was in third year. There was detention every Thursday for an hour after school for girls whose names were entered in the detention book during the previous week. Teachers could put girls names in this book as a punishment. My English teacher put my name in the book on a Wednesday because I did not have my homework done and did not have the correct textbook in class. I did not turn up for detention. The following morning the form mistress came to my classroom holding a cane. She called me outside and brought me to a cloakroom at the end of the corridor. She then gave me two strokes on each hand. A stroke of this cane really hurt. Surely the main reason for bending over for a school punishment was so that the trousers would tighten against the bottom. In a standing position, there would be an air gap between the trousers and the bottom, which would impede a cane stroke.

Why I would do this l really have no idea but I’m fairly sure this is what happened. Apart from administering the caning he had awarded me the headmaster never touched my clothing. However, I don’t want to end our journey into corporal punishment here. Our sessions are so hot, so intense, and the connection between us before, during and after the act itself is always so wonderful. I do own some very good rattans (not the sex-shop things we had bought at the outset; in the meantime we got ours from reputable cane makers, and Stef says he can “feel” very much the difference to our former sex-shop rattans very well…).

I attended a boys’ grammar school in the North of England in the 1960s. Corporal punishment was widely used. Most of the teachers used the slipper, while the headmaster and deputy head used the cane.

Mrs. Johnson took a large gym slipper from the shelf and told me to face the wall. “Take your pants down,” she said. Obediently, I dropped my trousers to my ankles – and then hesitated. “Get those down as well, and touch your toes.” Feeling terribly embarrassed, I took down my underpants as well and bent over as instructed. The majority of teachers were male and although we had more women teachers later, at the time in question, when I was 14, we had only two female teachers.Really no need to be sorry. There was not really such an awful lot of wisdom that I was attempting to add anyway, and I did not expect an answer at all. In the bending over position, it makes the fleshy lower part of the bottom more accessible for strokes of the cane. It generally presents a better target for the purpose of punishment although there is a case when the paddle is used that the recipient should be lying face down thereby presenting the bottom in a more relaxed state and perhaps better equipped to receive swats.
