About this deal

I live in a busy street so there is always some sort of disturbance even when windows are closed so I end up keeping the volume above 70% most of the time. But during silent nights 50% volume would suffice for a room sized of 10x20 ft for a good experience. Music played via Bluetooth seems 5-10% higher. These speakers produce different volume levels based on the source quality of the audio thereby you'll not have consistent audio experiences. FLACs, HQs, WAVs, 24bits are best formats to listen with these speakers which is SIMPLY MAGICAL but MP3s or youtube, soundcloud, gaana stream listening will feel fairly balanced. Movie watching with these speakers via Prime, Netflix, jiocinema, etc will definitely make you feel the need for higher vocal volumes. The speakers are heavy and solid – they FEEL valuable. I like the slight upward angle a lot as they are aimed perfectly from my desktop to my ears. They look modern and sleek, with or without the grills (though I have a two year old and will probably keep them on). The cable that connects the two speakers is super long – much longer than I needed (mine are only a couple of feet apart). The right speaker has the IR sensor for the remote and a small status/power indicator light that glows through the grill. The Edifier R1850DB delivers subtle but noticeable improvements over the R1700BT, mainly due to the extra power and the slightly larger size. I'm also wondering if I just need a better cable or an actual pre-amplifier to get a full bass response. I saw the ART DJPREII pre-amp recommended on another thread but really don't want to spend the money unless I have to. The increased loudness capability gives a more usable headroom for larger spaces than the more compact R1700BT. Sound Quality Winner: Edifier R1850DB

Let’s start with the style of the R1850DB which with the grill on looks like any other Bookshelf or desktop monitor. Nothing to see here. Take off the grill and things get a whole lot better with the woofer and tweeter exposed. It makes for a more modern take and mounting the speakers on their own board sets it apart from the cabinet. With the 70W RMS power, the R1850DB reaches up to volumes of around 102-104dB before any noticeable distortion. Being that we’ve already reviewed R1850DB’s younger sibling, the R1800BT, we suggest taking a closer look at that article for a more in-depth analysis of the unit’s sound. Conclusion Having said that, it still delivers great quality audio and features like DSP and DRC noise reduction. While it does cost more, the added flexibility for home theater integration and upgradability down the line is an excellent bonus. The R1850DB’s small but smart improvements across the frequency range, especially when it comes to the bass and mids, result in a more refined and complete listening experience compared to the R1700BT. The Edifier R1700BT has a rich and detailed sound profile. It achieves this by using Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Dynamic Range Control (DRC) technologies. In particular, the DSP will suppress noise and eliminate the distortions to deliver crystal clear sound even at high volumes. Also, the DRC balances the loudest and quietest sound ranges to stabilize volume levels. Edifier R1850DB stereo speakers promise great sound quality and excellent features at a budget price. Considering the company’s previous success with similar budget speakers, we wanted to investigate if these would be a good fit for a home music studio. If you press the volume button, it toggles between inputs such as Bluetooth, RCA, optical and coaxial.

The Edifier R1850DB speakers are bookshelf style units that are small, but sound a lot bigger. They may just surprise you as they aren’t just loud, the sound quality is awesome as well. Anywayz, I turned down the Bass control on the Edifiers and turned up the Polk's volume, while adjusting the frequency point on the Polk until I was happy with the crossover. These speakers are best budget-to-mid set of speakers for those looking for that high-quality music experience in India. You will certainly not be disappointed with these speakers but an addition of a sub-woofer will make you feel complete. I think the lights could do with being a little brighter, the issue only presents itself in day time. At night, it’s fine. Summary A light on the front of the active speaker will change colour to show what the current input mode is. This light will change to blue when you are in Bluetooth mode. To enable Bluetooth mode you can select the relevant button on the remote control unit, or you can press the main volume control knob on the active speaker.

In addition, the frequency response range is impressive at 60Hz – 20kHz. This means that it can produce defined highs and rich low tones, enough to scale across all frequencies in the audible spectrum of human hearing. The R1700BT has a 4-inch woofer with a forward-facing bass port, which produces a fulfilling low-end delivery. Also, the 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter will handle high-frequencies. The front face is angled to direct the sound, so you won’t need to use monitor stands. Also, you can remove the cloth panel to expose the drivers. However, keep in mind that the panels help to protect the drivers and diffuse the sound. Edifier 1850DB This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. R1700BT units have a solid build quality with ideal weight to keep them in place. In addition, the exterior casing features a high-performance MDF wood with vinyl walnut woodgrain wrap to add a decorative touch. This makes the speakers ideal for any studio or home application.Active bookshelf speakers are much maligned in the audiophile world but anyone doing so doesn’t quite get the point. For a lot of people the world of pairing, matching, and even setting up speakers with amplifiers is a pain in the rear end. Believe it or not people like just being able to plug something into the wall and start listening. I’m not going to sit here and argue about active vs passive speakers. I’m going to review this set of R1850DB for what they are, active powered speakers with an in-built amp.

Many studio monitors at this price point don’t offer much in terms of tuning options, yet controls are crucial in a speaker setup. Edifier R1700BT The R1850DB justifies the higher price tag with strategic upgrades such as the optical/coaxial inputs, subwoofer outputs, a better remote, and subtle design changes such as the glossy piano finish which gives a more premium look. Although you may want a speaker that produces amazing sound, it should also fit your studio’s aesthetic. Edifier R1700BT These appeared to hit nearly all of my targets except one low-priority one (balanced inputs), and included the ability to add on a sub later on if I wanted, so I took a chance. I don’t have any experience with the Edifier brand but I’ve heard good things. Turns out this was a great move. The fiber optic input cable measures 144 cm. A fantastic pair of bookshelf speakers.
