About this deal
If there’s one major disadvantage to varnish, it’s that it doesn’t offer the level of protection that other types of coatings like UV coating or aqueous coating (AQ) do. What if I want to mix my own colours? The whole range is fully interchangeable. Any of the washes, detailing paints, mediums and pure paints can be mixed with each other. Can they rub off over time? Absolutely not! Once set they cannot be rubbed off no matter how hard you might try (I have actually damaged the vinyl on one baby whilst scratching away to test their permanence – the vinyl has a decent scratch on it but the colour is still there!) Choose a suitable matte varnish for the medium use. You should not use a matte varnish for oil paintings on acrylic paintings or watercolors. Gloss Varnish
The UV in UV coating means that the liquid coating is applied and then cured with UV drying lamps. This makes the finished product very resistant to being rubbed or scratched. Apply to a clean, DAMP/WET sponge with a brush (blotting to remove excess if needed) by dabbing all over vinyl parts. With seemingly endless variations – from spot UV to high gloss coatings to a softer, more subtle matte that gives your product a more luxurious look, to velvet-like satin that adds a touch of softness and refinement – there’s a lot to consider.Varnish isn’t just divided by types, like satin and gloss, but also compromises different techniques as well. In many cases, especially if your product isn’t being handled a lot, varnish is a much more economical way to add a layer of basic protection to your product without investing in the higher cost of laminates. A Seemingly Endless Variety of Options and Techniques During application, protect the object and surrounding area from spray. Surfaces should be dry and clean of dust, oils and rust before application. You will need to shake well before use.
What if I work much slower? No problem, you just need to add a little of our ‘Slow Drying Medium’ and you can adjust the drying time to suit your pace. Matte varnish reduces glare and reflections, maintaining the delicate appearance of watercolor paintings.
Do they need a base coat? No, unlike some other air dry paint ranges they are properly formulated to adhere straight to the vinyl. There is no beading or struggling to work the paint onto the vinyl surface. On the other hand, gloss varnish has a shiny, reflective finish that can make colors appear more vibrant and add depth to your piece. It can also help protect your artwork from UV damage and other environmental factors.
