About this deal

I also sort of prefer the relationship between Viv and Seth in the movie. I’m not sure why they made them old friends instead of Seth being a newcomer to town, but I feel some of the frustrations for them both are clearer in the movie. The writing was definitely awkward at times, implying a few overused phrases that were impossible to miss, but it got the message across as pungently and honest as it could’ve ever done it. I still disliked some parts but overall, it didn't annoy me much. The author recommends "Feministing" as one of her "Feminist" blog resources. Feministing, if you aren't familiar with it, was founded by Jessica Valenti; a true paragon of maturity who is perhaps best recognized from a photo circulating the internet of her, on the beach, wearing a "I bathe in male tears" sweatshirt. And oh, while we're at it, let's have some quotes from Miss Valenti: I’m going to be very transparent in the fact that I am never going to stop obsessing over this book. So be prepared, especially in the coming months of Moxie’s release, I ain’t shutting up about it.

Moxie Book Review | Common Sense Media

Marcia Gay Harden, 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Clark Gregg & More Round Out The Cast Of Amy Poehler's 'Moxie' ". 8 November 2019. Archived from the original on 2020-09-27 . Retrieved 2019-11-08. This is what it means to be a feminist. Not a humanist or an equalist or whatever. But a feminist. It's not a bad word. After today it might be my favorite word. Because really all it is is girls supporting each other and wanting to be treated like human beings in a world that's always finding ways to tell them they're not." There is also a love interest for Viv in the book. His name is Seth and even though some don't think this should be a book for romance I have to disagree. I loved Seth and I think the placement of a hot high school guy that doesn't think like the jerks was a great thing. It didn't take away from the book, it was just there along with the other norms of life.I absolutely LOVED this book, way more than I anticipated. I originally wasn’t sure when I’d get to it, it just wasn’t high on my TBR, but after a sexist review, I knew I had to make it a priority and boy, did I make the right decision.

But one day, Viv has had enough. When a new girl named Lucy is trying to answer a question in class and Mitchell makes a comment that sends Viv on a quest to end this crap. No tiene una edad específica, pero creo que +13 sería excelente, ya que pueden haber cosas que no se entiendan o dimensionen. Directed by Amy Poehler, glorious coming of age comedy Moxie hit Netflix last week and was a joyful celebration of giving a damn. The movie sees 16-year-old Vivian (Hadley Robinson) inspired by her mum’s (Poehler) former feminist escapades and the misogyny she sees at her school to produce her own Zine (called Moxie) to unite her class mates and try to make a difference. Yes it will! I’ll show you how to release your book in physical and/or ebook format. You can create multiple formats.

Goodreads

This is not a review – you can read my (sadly short – I wrote the post when new to reviewing!) thoughts on the book here. What I wanted to do was look at how the movie compared to the book. Well,” I say, folding in on myself and staring at the Xeroxed copy of the poem on my desk. “Uh…” My cheeks turn scarlet. Why does Mr. Davies have to call on me? Why not mess with one of the groin grinners? At least I’m pretending to pay attention. With a story that’s equal parts heart and instruction manual, Mathieu has captured the movement of a generation—warts and all—and shone a light forward for the next one.” —E. K. Johnston, #1 New York Times Bestselling author of Exit Pursued By a Bear That's who the author has just recommended you go to for your Feminist education, kids. Remember that. Remember that.
