The blaster includes six shells, 20 darts (ten suction darts and ten standard darts), eye protection glasses, and white gloves. The plastic shell uses a unique dart—the length is shorter than a standard nerf dart but longer than a half-length dart. The shells are also compatible with any other half-length darts. It has a single tactical rail on top that is compatible with any N-Strike accessories and a very clean feeling action on the lever. The Flipshot also has a two-stage trigger. A half-pull shoots a single shot, and a full-pull will shoot the second dart. So you can choose to shoot one dart at a time or both! There are various modifications that can be performed on a blaster's priming mechanism, such as adding material for a better grip. Conversions can be performed on some blasters, making a blaster have a different priming style altogether; this is more traditionally done to transform bolt-action blasters to pump-action, through a homemade or 3D-printed converter.

The Slingfire comes with a 6-round magazine and six green Nerf elite darts but can be upgraded using any N-Strike Elite magazine—including a 25-round drum! Booyah! The first thing you’ll notice when you take the Winchester 1887 out of the box is that it is hefty. This isn’t a cheap plastic toy that will break within a week and is made of solid aluminum and hard ABS plastic. On some models, the jam door may be loose and may open unintentionally.
