About this deal

What I love about this drink, and daiquiris in particular is that you can do so much to very easily mix them up. The spirit of this fictitious character inspired a brand new style of rum. But despite being macerated and purified in pineapple, Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy doesn’t taste particularly like pineapple. You could taste its subtle notes, but it’s far from a pineapple-flavored rum. These then have post-fermentation and distillation sugar added (a practice the brandy/cognac industry calls dosage). The rum is then aged in oak barrels in France for various lengths of time depending on the style of rum. Conclusion

The production process for pineapple-distilled rum in the Rum Quay was simple. To start, the juice was extracted from the pineapple with a press. Next, the rum is soaked in the pressed pulp for multiple weeks. Before being casked or bottled for export, the pineapple-infused rum and pulp are thrown into blending vats with normal rum. How is Pineapple Rum made today? There’s a little less sugar in this than in a usual daiquiri, to compensate for the sweetness of the rum. Play with the ratios of sugar syrup until you find something to your liking. The lime juice really brings out the tropical notes in the rum. The secret to the success of Plantation’s pineapple rum is the distillation process. First, Queen Victoria pineapples are stripped and the rind is macerated into the house’s white rum, which is already a 3 star product, and left to impart their flavours for one week. Then, the flesh of the pineapples is added during the distillation of a combination of the light rum and a dark rum in a pot still. The pulp is left to develop its flavours for a whole three months so it can permeate the dark rum. When the two spirits are married together, the result is a rich, fruity rum with the real flavours of pineapple.

Hemingway certainly knew his drinks, and his twist on a classic daiquiri includes grapefruit juice for a tangy, bittersweet note which complements the sweet pineapple flavours of the rum perfectly.Other ingredients you may taste in your pineapple rum include soft brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. You may also taste some additional sweetness if the pineapples in your rum were roasted or candied. First place went to Nico de Soto of Mace in New York and Danico in Paris. His recipe calls for a total of three rums: the aforementioned Plantation pineapple rum; New Grove Plantation white rum, which has notes of guava and banana, from the island of Mauritius; and Père Labat 40, an agricole-style rum from the island of Marie-Galante. To this is added three-quarters of an ounce of pineapple juice, a half-ounce of lime juice and a quarter-ounce of rich cane syrup. Arriving with no garnish other than a fluffy crown of froth, thanks to the fresh pineapple juice, McGee described it as “archetypal” while Favre found that “the cane flavor of the rum supports the fruit,” for a particularly balanced and integrated expression of the drink. Plantation Grande Reserve is a blended Caribbean molasses rum that blends pot and column distilled Barbadian rums. It is then aged in Barbados’ hot and humid conditions, in casks formerly used for American whiskey and sherry.

Their rum is unique in the sense that it is made using traditional methods and aged in oak barrels, giving it a distinct flavor profile that is unlike any other rum. On the nose of this one there’s plenty of brown sugar and some grilled pineapple, although it’s not particularly punchy—I genuinely think that if you gave this to someone blind and told them that it was simply “aged rum,” they wouldn’t suspect that there had been actual pineapple involved. On the palate I’m getting some roasted cane flavor, and a bit of that “raw” booze I was tasting in the Original Dark, paired with citrus, green apple and a puff of smoke. It honestly seems like a moderately aged rum that could be used in practically any application, rather than doubling down on drinks that already call for pineapple elements. The sweet and tangy flavors of the pineapple juice and lemon juice are balanced by the crispness of the white wine, while the white rum and club soda add richness and refreshing dizziness. This is how I most often make the drink. Because often I’m making a bunch of them for a party or a dinner, and it’s both easy and delicious. This is one for pineapple lovers – the combination of pineapple rum and pineapple juice gives it that unmistakable flavour. The Campari adds a bitter note and the lime gives a bit of zing. It’s the perfect party drink! A Central American molasses rum, Plantation Gran Anejo, is distilled and aged in Guatemala in casks formerly used for American whiskey before being re-casked and further aged in France at Maison Ferrand’s Chateau de Bonbonnet in barrels formerly used for cognac for up to a year. A bittersweet opening, mid-palate reveals molasses cookie, pineapple, ginger, and vanilla. Becomes a reasonably-rounded rum with soft chocolate and vanilla on the finish. Summary Before the success of the Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy, pineapple rum was hardly a real concept. However, that would all change in the coming years, as several new producers started rolling out their own pineapple-inspired rums. So, what’s Pineapple Rum? Flavored and spiced rums now make up over 55% of rums sold in the world. Besides pineapple rum, drinkers can also enjoy citrus, raspberry, vanilla, and others.

Plantation Guatemala & Belize je blend zložený z rumov práve týchto dvoch krajín Strednej Ameriky. Tie guatemalské po kolónovej destilácii tam dozrievajú 3 roky v dubových sudoch po bourbone. Tie z Belize zase 4-6 rokov (takisto po kolónovej destilácii a v sudoch po bourbone). Nakoniec finišujú približne jeden rok vo Francúzsku v sudoch po koňaku. I went into more of the details of the rum itself in that other post, so for this one, let’s just jump in. How to Make a Pineapple Daiquiri Both the flesh of the fruit and its skin can be used to make rum. First, the fruit and the skin are submerged in rum. Depending on the recipe, they could be put in an additional type of rum after the first one. Producers in the 18th and 19th centuries would soak their rums in pineapple after they were already made. But today, just how grapes are used to create the base for wine, pineapples are being used to create the base for rum. It was only a matter of time before Gabriel began producing rum. Using his knowledge of wooden cask aging, he was able to invent the Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy.Depending on what type of rum is used to macerate the pineapples, you may also taste hints of a different rum, like white rum or spiced rum. The scent of your pineapple rum will also be affected by what kind of rum was used. This version of Old Fashioned is made with pineapple rum, demerara syrup, lime bitters, overproof rum, and ginger bitters. Always the alchemist, Plantation has created a “dark” rum by blending their 10-15 year aged Jamaican rum together with 1-3 year aged Barbadian twin column and pot still rum. You can even find newspaper advertisements from the 18th and 19th centuries advertising pineapple-distilled rum. All of this rum was being exported from the Caribbean. Plantation Rum totiž mení svoj názov ( zdroj). Dôvod? Podľa vyjadrenia výrobcu je to preto, aby touto zmenou podporila rasovú rovnosť – a to nielen vo svetle smrti afroameričana Georgea Floyda.
