About this deal

Matt CainThere is no magical land you finally arrive at where everything is figured out, fixed and sorted. It talks about the negatives of being a woman in society, making it so familiar and relatable, but shows that you don't have to be perfect to be perfect. As Nell navigates the complexities of love, friendship, and self-discovery, I found myself nodding in agreement, pausing to reflect on my own life and decisions. I enjoyed the main characters in this book, especially Cricket, Nell's octogenarian best friend, who definitely doesn't act her age and doesnt care what others think! Alexandra Potter is the master of funny, honest comfort reads, including the bestselling Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up, the inspiration behind US comedy series Not Dead Yet.

Potter says she doesn’t personally mind the constant, casual questions about motherhood, “and I realise why they come up, socially, but I know that for a lot of friends who couldn’t have children those questions can be a trigger”.

Nell is all set to marry Edward when she discovers she still has the chance to have a baby should she decide to, but after realising her and Edward are not on the same page she decides she needs to explore this option further and her and Edward go their separate ways. I had finished the book and it was due to be published in April 2020 but then the world stopped and everything shut,” says Potter. Her voice was so easy to listen to and she made me laugh so much especially when Nell was being snarky or sarcastic.

Together they begin to help each other heal their aching hearts, cope with the loss of the lives they had planned and push each other into new adventures and unexpected joys. If I could put those things aside it would be a 5 star read for pure entertainment (and a few emotional tears). This novel isn't just a sequel; it's a continuation of a journey that reminds us that life's path is rarely linear. This is what we all want and this is what I try to do when my mum friends talk to me about their problems. Yorkshire born and raised, Alexandra lives in London with her Californian husband and their Bosnian rescue dog. One filled with infinite possibilities and wonderful new opportunities and decisions to be made and doubts to be had and a whole lot of love to be explored.
