About this deal

On the other hand, the way the novel simmers under its lid and slowly uncoils itself to render its death bite is quite masterly. It was easy to read and gave a different point of view on an affair than books I’ve read in the past. It was definitely intriguing to read, and puts you into a crazy perspective of something that wouldn't happen in everyone's life. There's a keen sense the author wished to examine this type of situation in a novel, whether sparked by some personal experience, or through an alternate source of inspiration, and that is accomplished.

The icy detachment of this narrative is a perfect foil to Fleming’s inner turmoil and the depth of his catastrophic infatuation. Gene Siskel upon its release considered it one of the year's best films, commenting that it is "written smart, written with a topicality, so the characters seem credible", and went on to say that " Damage is a real special film". The main strength of this novel, is its ability to evoke huge emotion in the reader, which makes it brilliant for discussion in Book Groups, as it affects each reader in different ways. I hid the awkwardness and pain which I inclined towards my chosen outline, and tried to be what those loved expected me to be- a good husband, a good father, and a good son.The dialogue wasn’t very personal and kinda seemed detached, but the book was still good and left me feeling empty at the end.

Hart reminds us that, when tragedy strikes, as when Anna’s brother Aston kills himself ‘silence, separation and sadness… become a way of life’ trapping us ‘in the unresolved agonies of long ago’.

Damage is a 1991 novel by Josephine Hart about a British politician who, in the prime of life, causes his own downfall through an inappropriate relationship. It has been confirmed that the cast will include Richard Armitage as William (originally Stephen), Charlie Murphy as Anna, Indira Varma as Ingrid, and Rish Shah as Jay (originally Martyn), while Pippa Bennett-Warner will also feature in cast. Hart was married to Maurice Saatchi, advertising magnate and former political advisor with whom she had one son, Edward Saatchi. He is a man who appears to have everything: wealth, a beautiful wife and children, and a prestigious political career in Parliament. Stephen's obsession with Anna deepens; on a whim, he leaves a conference in Brussels to go to Paris, where Anna is spending the weekend with Martyn.

Also, the author was so repetitive about how the man thought he had a good life until he realized it was missing true deep and fulfilling love.Soon to be appearing on Netflix as "Obsession," starring Richard Armitage and Charlie Murphy** This New York Times bestselling novel, now in a brand-new edition, is a daring look at the dangers of obsession and the depth of its shattering consequences. I have read one of her other books, Sin, dealing with the subject of Envy and while it is good but I think Damage is better. Anna, the woman in question, does not come alive at all, since we see her purely from her lover's perspective as an object to be either worshipped or subjugated.

I think it is, to an extent, a document of the very early 90s and dark aspects of sexuality becoming explored in mainstream media. Lo scrivere della Hart è incalzante , ci si immerge in questa palude per vedere cosa c’è dopo l’oblio , dopo questo irrefrenabile “danno “. The writing was dull, but it was very quick to get through as the book isn’t long and the chapters are very short so it does keep it moving. Josephine Hart, who has died of cancer aged 69, was the author of the bestseller Damage (1990), a savage, shocking novel about passion and betrayal with the now famous line: "Damaged people are dangerous. Hart's tragic and emotional tour de force, which spent 16 weeks on PW 's hardcover bestseller list, is narrated by a man obsessed with his son's fiancee.Likes Older Men: Anna's mother tells that Martyn is not Anna's type: Anna generally dates older men. An anxious Stephen lies about it, telling Sally he was talking to Anna about the marriage because Ingrid was upset. Damage is very smartly-written and effective in arousing curiosity in readers, leading us to question the characters’ self-destructive actions. Posh tory boy for no apparent reason gets totally consumed by his posh boring son's posh boring girlfriend.
