About this deal

In the book, Tolle asserts that everyone can find "the freedom and joy of life" if they live in the present moment. She looked puzzled briefly, and after a minute or so of sitting silently, I suddenly noticed a significant shift in her energy field. Whatever is attained through cleverness is short-lived and always turns out to be eventually self defeating. Unfortunately, I see him as a social misfit who has managed to hypnotize himself with endless verbiage so that he doesn't have to face up to the pain and suffering that are a normal part of existence. Illuminating- it gives something to aspire to (although i generally fall into the traps he advises against.

Only if you resist what happens are you at the mercy of what happens, and the world will determine your happiness and unhappiness. Accept the present moment and find the perfection that is deeper than any form and untouched by time. My kids are MY kids and even though that will likely make it harder for me when they are off to college and doing their own thing, I'm fine with that! In the book, Tolle defines the term ego as an "illusory sense of self" [5] based on one's memories and thoughts. In regards to “being still does nothing,” have you tried meditation, solitude, or deep contemplation? The ego, and particularly the collective ego, strengthens itself through emphasizing the “otherness” of others. Ego arises when your sense of Beingness, of ‘I Am,’ which is formless consciousness, gets mixed up with form. The self-help author, highlights the benefits of life spent "in the moment" and gives concrete exercises to help 'transcend our ego-based consciousness'. In other words, and this may sound strange, if you don't mind being unhappy, what happens to the unhappiness?

I’m an interconnector across all those humans and many more—an "independent, inquiring, interdisciplinary integrator" (in other words, it's just me over here, asking questions, crossing disciplines, and making connections). Some people feel more alive when they travel and visit unfamiliar places or foreign countries because at those times sense perception -experiencing- takes up more of their consciousness thank thinking. The problem with most of these books is that such ideas are extremely difficult to define accurately in words.Unhappiness covers up your natural state of wellbeing and inner peace, the source of true happiness. Most ancient religions and spiritual traditions share the common insight – that our ‘normal’ state of mind is marred by a fundamental defect.
