About this deal

We get to learn a little bit about why they are traveling and about their lives, which are about to be changed forever!

We sat on a peach sofa as the consultant told us Alex had bacterial meningitis; the next few days would be critical. I’m so honored to be able to reveal the cover for Vanessa Lillie’s buzz-worthy new mystery here on CBTB today! Once Mina is on the plane, she finds a belonging of her daughters, which lends credibility to her daughter being threatened. We were in by seven and home 13 hours later, our days filled with beeps and whirs, and the stillness of a ward where lives hung in the balance. At first I didn’t care about the passenger’s stories but it made sense later on which I thought was clever!

As Mina finally settles into the 20 hour inaugural flight from London to Sydney, things start to go badly, quickly. As the title suggests, the story is about what happens after a life-changing event, and for us the clock had stopped. Mina is a flight attendant who deliberately places herself aboard an inaugural non-stop flight from London to Sydney, Australia. There is an emotion decision that has to be made, weighing up options as to what she should do and being judged for it and herself feeling guilty for it. She is also the flight attendant targeted in the hi-jacking-who must make the heart wrenching decision on whether to save her daughter or protect the integrity of the cockpit.

There are a great number of characters profiled here, some of them are hijackers, some are crew members, and you don't know who is good and who has questionable motives until the very last page of the book. She’s separated from her husband Alex and they are the parents of Sophia who they adopted when she was 10-months old. I watched a woman and her partner carry twin babies to their car and felt a sudden rush of bitterness. This is everything I want from brilliantly delicious, extremely addictive and absolutely smart, twisty, claustrophobic, high tension story with detailed, connectable characterization! It is tempting to be carried away by the perception that Clare MacKintosh has written merely two books. Clare MacKintosh, who has been a policewoman, was prompted to joining the Thames Valley Police by a film that she watched.

Clare Mackintosh is a British New York Times bestselling and multi-award-winning author of mystery, suspense, thriller and non-fiction novels. In the new psychological thriller Come with Me by Erin Flanagan, a woman, put simply, is forced to grow up. It added a dimension to the story that we got to know some of the individual passengers through their thoughts about their lives and why they took this inaugural flight to Sydney. The story is told from multiple points of view but mostly Mina and Adam and some are from passengers referred by their seat numbers as passenger 2D, 8C, 1G, etc. Miracles happen all the time – Alex could have recovered, he could have laughed, could have loved, could have lived.Mackintosh had my heart pounding and just when I was biting my nails worrying about all the people onboard the flight, she transported me back to the Adam and Sophia and I read with a pit in the bottom of my stomach. When we meet her, Mina’s home life is rocky at best: she suspects her husband Adam of having an affair, and is struggling to connect with her young daughter, Sophia. I couldn't get behind the reason for the hijacking or the portrayal of the hijackers as victims of every possible social issue or malady. I can’t imagine how he must have felt and – looking back – it seems horribly unfair to have asked him. We have Mina and Adam, who adopted Sophia, but Sophia has many issues with attachment and Adam struggles to connect with her.
