The book shocks to the bottom of your heart, why did a family of brothers and sisters have to suffer and not only during their childhood but mentally for their whole life's. For people to have written about you and discussed the inner workings of your mind and life without having ever spoken a word to you directly. Whilst I didn't find the actual writing to be fantastic - unfortunately I found that sometimes the book seemed a little disjointed and quite repetitive, the content alone is gripping enough to recommend.We see what life was like for the children of Fred and Rose west, growing up within a house that, despite not standing anymore, everyone knows about and knows of the location. I can understand that not wanting to believe your family is capable of that, it's totally understandable.

Myimmediate family and I are super close and created many amazing traditions over the years and now with my new family I can not wait to start our own traditions. Because of these peeks into what could be seen as a 'normal' childhood on some days, that I was able to really understand Mae's struggle to break the bound from her mother, even after her conviction. You can tell that a lot of what she has gone through is still unresolved but equally she seems to accept that she will always be, to an extent, damaged by her past, but is learning to live with those wounds. Mae is clear and honest within this book - she recognises some of her naiveté but also still holds on to the fact that she is still a daughter who is in want, or perhaps even need, of a loving mother.
