About this deal

Taking the product back to it's original glory, Ureka have reformulated Cascamite back to its former glory. Cascamite” is a brand name used for a powder urea formaldehyde resin adhesive, and it became synonomous with any adhesive which met this specification, i. By adding water to the stated mix ratio, an excellent adhesive is created which bonds wood exceptionally well.

Ensure the wood substrate is sound, smooth, level, clean, dry and free of any dust, dirt, wax, loose paint, incompatible curing compounds or fire retardant chemicals, fungicides, release agents, sealers, or any other foreign substances that might interfere with a good bond. One Shot adhesives are ideal for use with a vacuum bag press where curved panels are being constructed. Cascamite – The original powdered resin wood glue with gap filling properties which ensures weather and water resistant joints every time. Ideal for joinery, cabinetwork and assembly gluing, particularly when small amounts of glue mix are needed, or when demand is such that the use of a liquid adhesive is uneconomic. Woodstikk® One Shot is a one-component urea powder adhesive, which only requires mixing with water to make it ready for use.

Unfortunately, it is not quite as simple as one is better than the other as it really depends on what you are wanting to achieve. The setting time is fast, but will allow adequate working life for most envisaged applications using hot and cold pressing techniques. This is a Session Cookie (session cookies are temporary and are erased when you close your browser). One Shot adhesives are ideal for the smaller user as if they are kept dry and in a cool environment, the shelf life is excellent. As a precaution, any glue spilt on the hands should be removed immediately with soap and water before it sets.

PVA’s have shorter shelf lives so will lose their ability to give a good bond the older they become. It is now ready for use and will remain usable for 1 hour at 30°c, 4 hours at 20°c, 8 hours at 10°c. Whether to use Cascamite or PVA is a common dilemma amongst trades who are creating products with wood. Cascamite One Shot Powdered Resin Wood Glue, only requires mixing with water to make it ready for use. Established in 1985, we’re a specialist supplier to the joinery, carpentry and construction industries providing you with expert joinery supplies, tools, products, architectural ironmongery and building consumables.

To ensure that a consistent glue mix with the correct properties is obtained, mixing by weight is strongly recommended. It is especially suitable for joinery, cabinetwork and assembly gluing, particularly when small amounts of glue mix are needed, or when demand is such that the use of a liquid adhesive is uneconomic. A brief guide showing the differences between Cascamite and PVA wood adhesives, what they bond, and which is the best adhesive to use. Addition of too much water will seriously reduce the rate of setting and the gluing properties, particularly at low temperatures.

Since we have acquired the brand in April 2023, we have reformulated the Cascamite adhesive back to how it used to be many years ago. And if you use a D3 or D4 graded version which relates to the water resistance, they give a water resistance which is at least equal, and more often better, than One Shot.

Please note: If bonded wood is to be turned on a lathe, it is recommended the wood be seasoned for a minimum of one week before turning. Not only do we sell amazing products, we also use them, allowing us to offer expert advice unrivalled by any other company. This new Cascamite adhesive formulation is not the same product as the Aerolite UP4145, but rather our own new and improved version of Cascamite.
