The two-player game was surprisingly decent but it was much different from the higher-count games: thinkier and a little meaner.

All players, including the captain, may play any number of "Power" cards any time during this period. Celestia, in addition to the wild cards, has some other special cards mixed in its deck that can spice up the game.At that point, you can assure the other players you have cards with symbols matching the dice rolled. The captain then must (if he has them) use the “equipment cards” from his hand to solve the hazards on the dice. Enemies are watched closely, their own face down hoard of loot cards a looming threat to your own victory, while alliances are formed, each party using the other to push forward towards higher value booty, all the while patiently waiting for the opportune time to forcefully leave the other behind, once their threat overshadows their use.

If the captain cannot face all the events, he plays no "Equipment" card at all and the aircraft crashes with all its passengers. Whatever the outcome of the previous, the passenger sitting to the left of the captain becomes the new captain. And in fact, it is this unnecessary chrome that elevates Celestia and propels players into the atmosphere it provides. Celestia is a push/press your luck style game, where players are explorers, travelling to various lands, avoiding troubling events with Equipment, and trying to get treasures worth 50 points in total or more. Also, with other bluffing games there is a definitive "put up or shutup" mechanism where the trash-talk culminates in either actually having a Duke or not (Coup, I'm looking at you) .
