About this deal

The illustrations by Rovina Cai are exquisite and woven throughout the series of short stories wonderfully. Although not pivotal to the main plot and story it gives it an edge that it didn’t have before reading this. It reminded him of how his father and all the Court had seen him, before he learned how to shield himself with villainy. In this story, Cardan’s life is very much impacted by a troll named Aslong who was wronged by Cardan’s father.

So yes, yes, yes I absolutely recommend this book to fans of the series; especially to those that adore Cardan as much as I do. Getting to the end of this book feels like completing a journey with Cardan and I think it is a journey all fans of The Cruel Prince should embark on.Whatever a reader is looking for--heart-in-throat action, deadly romance, double-crossing, moral complexity--this is one heck of a ride. She tells a story about a boy with a heart of stone, who finds himself in a predicament with a monster girl who won’t scare him away, until his heart starts beating again.

When i wrote my review for The Cruel Prince i said and i quote myself: He isn’t cruel because he wants to be. As soon as I saw a copy in person I realized how foolish these doubts were though and I can honestly say that this book is well worth treating yourself to a physical copy of.I believe I just had a front row seat to what this book is gonna be like so I don’t think I even need to read it anymore. This story takes you back into the world of The Folk of the Air series and brings a new story to life, filled with beautiful illustrations and great storytelling. New York Times bestselling author, Holly Black reveals a deeper look into the dramatic life of Elfhame’s enigmatic high king, Cardan.

she was like alright lemme take your favourite YA bad-boy-with-tragic-past and decide to publish a novella about him with GORGEOUS artwork.

Jude, who struggles with a world she both loves and hates and would rather be powerful and safe than good, is a compelling narrator. A prince of Faerie who once slept in the hay of the stables listening to the sounds of faerie steeds, of deer and elk, and even the croaks of great riding toads, who listened to the stories of Aslog of the West.

Since he was well aware that they both took delight in hurting everyone else that they could, how could he have thought himself safe? New York Times bestselling author, Holly Black reveals a deeper look into the dramatic life of Elfhame's enigmatic high king, Cardan. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: This book wouldn't have been possible without Balekin, Locke and Nicasia's stupidness. Talvez o único problema seja que eu tive que parar e reler as cenas para me lembrar exatamente do que estava acontecendo e de como terminaram. Aslog’s story changes as Cardan does, with a new ending and meaning for each retelling, each stage of his life.

Larger-than-life action in a kingdom packed with self-centered, evil, and manipulating characters also doles out real life issues. The entirety is framed within a moment that takes place after the end of The Queen of Nothing (2019), providing a glimpse into the maturing relationships between Jude and Cardan and between Cardan and his responsibilities as High King of Elfhame, a land whose multihued, multiformed denizens cannot lie. I feel blessed to read about each time Holly gives us a new book, and this will for sure be a favorite of mine for all of 2020. They indulged all their worst impulses, revenged themselves for the least offense, and took every last thing they wanted.
