About this deal

Overall though, whilst enjoyable, Gabriel’s Promise didn’t add any extra weight to my love of the series and with parts of the storyline left loose, I’m not convinced that we’ve seen the last of the Emerson’s. La verdad que no me hubiera ofendido para nada si Reynard hubiera dejado esta historia como trilogía ya que el libro anterior quedó bastante cerrado pero como dije anteriormente, me gustó, lo disfruté. I would highly recommend that anyone new to these books do the same, and start at the beginning – truly, you need to know how far they have travelled – but if it has just been a while, then there are enough pointers to remind you of any past events that your brain has forgotten. She stands up for herself a lot more and although she still tries to battle everything on her own, she soon learns that’s not a great idea. But we don't really have time to worry about that too much, because we need to decide if and how Gabriel can accept this new amazing job opportunity in Scotland without leaving his family behind!

If you thought Gabriel was hot before, just wait until you spot him strolling through the Harvard campus with Clare in a fancy Swedish baby carrier. After finishing Gabriel’s Promise there were some questions and pieces that I would love to see tied up. It really had great potential, but it ended up being a little like a secondary storyline just to have the mystery included, and it starts to fizzle after that above mentioned big event. I was super stoked when I saw Sylvain Reynard was coming out with the next installment, Gabriel's Promise. If it weren't a Sylvain / Gabriel book, I am not sure if I would have kept on reading, however I knew it would be worth it to keep going. These would include finding out the identity of the night intruder, how the memento mori came to be left at the Emerson residence, and answers to some of the questions and mysteries that Gabriel has with the Divine Comedy.

Just be aware that some dots won’t be fully connected with this novel, and that you may want to move on to those other stories afterward. Unlike the other books in this series that had a good, but not over the top, amount of Dante in it, this book has way too much.I loved their story from the first word of Gabriel's Inferno until the last word of Gabriel's Redemption. This book was such a good addition, a beautifully written addition to this amazing and wonderful series! There were just too many unresolved issues, and with the ending, I'm still not clear all the open story lines came to a conclusion. The first three books also ignited my curiosity and I did pick up Inferno by Dante (2X) after reading the first book in the series. Sylvain was building the set up for the plot, inserting a mysterious element that was very interesting to watch, everything was progressing and happening and suddenly, when I pressed next, it was over.

As both Gabriel and Julianne provide their own interpretations of pieces from these ancient texts, I am once again amazed at the intellect of Sylvain Reynard to craft these understandings and I have come to the conclusion that somewhere out there, in an alternate universe, Sylvain Reynard IS Gabriel Emerson! Sylvain pulled out all of the stops in this new installment and I'll be honest, I didn't stop once until the pages quit turning. I loved the book and wanted it to last longer, because I missed the characters and wanted to know soooo much more about them. I was so excited to read the continued story of Professor Gabriel and his Beatrice Julia but what a big disappointment this book was. I think seeing them as a married couple was both a blessing as Sylvain Reynard truly did a masterful job at painting parenthood and a curse. He’s now a full time professor at Boston University and lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts with his wife Julia and new baby Clare. As much devoted to Julia as to their little Clare, Gabriel is ready to do anything to make them happy and preserve them.

One way to bring this about is for readers to reach out to their favourite publisher and suggest they acquire the translation rights to my books. Is very short compared with the previous one but is also unclear on why we need to read this, after all one of the important thing that happens was never explained at the end, which lead me to think of the possibility of another book, this is no the end of this two. What it boils down to is that the conclusion for this book is kind of open-ended, and it feels a little unfinished to me. I really enjoyed listening to this wonderful story, Julianne and Gabriel are exactly like I remember them.I adore Gabriel and his love for Julianne, even when I wanted to seriously hit him upside the head in ‘Inferno’… by redemption and promise… he is the most beautiful person. Sinceramente este libro solo me deja la sensación de que tendremos más libros 😤 y a mi en particular la idea de más no es que me ponga a saltar en un pie de contenta. Recently, I celebrated the one year anniversary of the Italian release of “The Roman” by Delrai Edizioni. Gabriel’s Promise” is the book we all have been waiting for, a full length „epilogue” (from my POV) that will bring us Gabriel and Julia back to see how exactly how do they cope with parenting and new responsibilities.
