About this deal

Radio DJs and broadcasters also enjoy the impressively natural, full and packed sounds that are pleasing audiences. The main draw of this microphone is that it is designed to record only the sound that is closest to it, while rejecting everything else. It’s custom made in the USA and comes in black, silver and champagne colours (the champagne looks great! The PR 40 is the chosen microphone of podcasters, satellite radio stations, artists, and engineers for its studio-quality sound and ease of use across a wide range of voices, instruments, and styles. I got some great djembe tones out of it, and on vocals it sounded impressively natural, but at the same time full and solid — which would be ideal for radio DJs, as well as for some types of studio vocal.

Q: Hello there, So, I'm curious, and I own a Rode NT-1A, so please clarify why using a "Dynamic" Mic is preferable to using my Rode for podcasting.

This project involves a management team of volunteers who each take a topic of interest and manage it with passion.

I, too, was not all that blown away by the SM7 [and to that particular end, I also find myself in the Internet Minority ]Add me too - I love the PR-30 and 40 - I also use PR-22 where most people would use 57s. I'm running it through a Focusrite Scarlett Solo and it needs the gain up near max if you don't want to be kissing the thing while you talk. Well rounded, warm and clear - these are the three words that all reviewers mentioned for the Heil PR 40. Any noise you hear is likely to be from your preamp, as the mic does require a fair amount of gain; 40 dB or so did the trick for me.

Given its physical attributes and extended low‑end response, the PR40 will probably be compared with the Electrovoice RE20, although I also see performance parallels with the Sennheiser MD421. Multiple reviews of the same product by one person will unfairly bias/skew the product average rating numbers. This is great when I am doing solo, but I need the Mix8 for the mix minus since the 402 does not have the Aux out. Doubling the distance from both mics evened the score, although the PR 40 still produced a touch more low-end size. Streaming - Delivering professional-quality sound and featuring a sleek appearance, the PR 40 is built to enhance your YouTube streaming product.
