About this deal

Kaleb needs to go to rehab and just never talk to women again because no one no matter how horrible deserves someone like him. It's also completely different to what I was expecting and my advice would be to go into this blind. If you choose to see it only for its wrongness, and if you think it’s garbage and disgusting, that’s on you.

While her POV certainly helps understand all the characters, it’s a little bit challenging to connect with one of the Van der Bergs considering his “limitation” and that he has the least interaction with Tiernan. On the surface, she's a privileged woman, but underneath, she's a struggling, disconnected, broken, mess. Similar to the After series, it was kind of like Credence was a train-wreck I couldn't look away from. I was honestly a bit sad and (initially) surprised by who Tiernan chose to pursue because I found that connection the least strong out of all of them. I often struggle to connect to teenage protagonists because of my own age, but I saw so many pieces of myself in Tiernan.Tiernan is very quiet at first, rarely talking and when she does it is with as few words as possible. All of the men in this book are toxic in their own way, and if you are someone that has a hard time forgiving characters for bad behaviour, this book may really frustrate you. Tiernan finds that Jake and his two adult sons, Noah and Kaleb, live on a up on a mountain and the road closes every year once the snow comes. Timing is everything and sometimes, due to an influx of requests or book mail, it may take a little while for us to reply/post. While all the characters were distinct, I found myself partial to Jake, who was so well-developed in the first half and I loved how his 'relationship' with Tiernan evolved as she got closer to all three of them—though it was not smooth sailing by any means and some scenes were definitely harder to read.

The book is told from multiple perspectives of all the four main characters, though it’s mostly just Tiernan’s. They never speak to each other, Kaleb isn't even in like half the book, he rapes her like it's going out of fashion.

I still was hooked to this one, and seeing as I read so much, I tend to find it hard to find books that I devour and can’t stop thinking about. Authors and/or publishers, if for some reason you wish to see something removed from my page do not hesitate to contact me. but honestly, the last 30ish % should've started in the middle instead of at the end so there were more scenes with Tiernan and the guy she chooses.

It's all about every male in the book having an endless supply of slutty women while they pull a shotgun on a guy flirting with the heroine (whom obviously, the author makes into a baddie. All three men routinely hook up with other women and even bring them back home while Tiernan is in the house. I love the idea of living in a secluded area near the wilderness, and this book captures that ambiance perfectly. Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of eighteen. Credence, if anything, proves to be a great and smutty read at its core, but that's really all it has going for it. I mean, I ultimately got on board the pairing by the end because it was somewhat healing and they were obviously very happy— though that’s not to say these relationships are healthy at all and they’re not to be romanticised!

I'm not gonna lie, it took me several pages to get engaged with the story but it was so worthy to keep going. and all of that unnecessary drama at the end was such bullshit i had to skim all of it because it was so stupid i don’t even know what was going on that was necessary to have that much melodrama it was so dumb.

The first half of the book is a bit of a slow burn as we're introduced to the main characters: Tiernan, Jake, Noah and Kaleb. But I'm so glad I am one of the ones who did and I commend Douglas for following her writing arrow and taking risks. the moment they met he tried to have sex with her even though she said no multiple times and then he proceeded to be rude to her for pretty much the entire story after that, by throwing food at her, writing “slut” on her forehead, and just rude things that are certainly not how one is supposed to show love to another.
