A Devils Weekend – Actors Katy Manning and John Levene take a personal trip back to the picturesque village of Aldbourne, 50 years after they recorded the Doctor Who story The Daemons there. I have on the first 2 stories, at least, faint white lines down the entire left hand of the picture. The fast-paced action and contemporary horror on display is of the sort Doctor Who does best, and the adjustments implemented to the regular cast and the tone are demonstrably effective from the off. Of course, all of this is viewed with the gift of retrospect; a viewer watching week-to-week would not have known that the Master would be appearing in every story and could be forgiven for thinking that he wasn’t going to appear in Colony in Space, where he doesn’t crop up until episode 4.Due to filming taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, two of these pairings are separated by a plastic screen.
There is no better tv that was created than Doctor Who and the Classic series has stories that made you think but also wished you were part of the adventures in time and space. Assuming no black and white seasons for a while, and that Pertwee and McCoy aren’t getting a double release this year, that narrows us right down.
I’m sure they will add the other VHS years clips on the other boxsets just like their already doing with the pertwee years clips on the daemons disk and frontier in space disk.

The Time Monster is one of the ones I always think gets treated unfairly in the polls it is no classic but there are many that are much worse. The only thing that bothers me with this set is that Pertwee on the spine is visibly bigger than Doctors on the other spines. Oh, and watch out for Sergeant Osgood, father and inspiration of the new series character of the same name.
Done all the Behind the Sofas, Devil’s Weekend and Direct Route, the Direct Route was excellent such a brilliant production, quite epic too, brilliant camera work and a decent score too. This is a list of Bonus Features available on the original DVD releases but not ported over to this Blu-ray release. The costumes for the primitives work well enough, but the Alien High Priest, which looks fantastic in photographs, falls down when it has to move and reveals itself for what it is – a rather stiffly-operated puppet.
